I have a problem with my P360 that I just wired up. The up direction wonāt respond at all. All of the others work fine. Iāve checked to see if the qd from the wire to the plug (db25) works and thats fine.
I also put in my competition stick just to make sure that it isnāt the plugs fault but the stick. and the competition worked fine.
So whats the cause of the problem? Did I just happen to purchase a bad P360 joystick?
calibrate led.
tighten it to center
Iām in the process of trying to pick out parts to buy in a couple of weeks and being that Iāve been out of the loop around her for about a year or so Iām a bit confused on what to get after reading the FAQās portion on the competition sticks. Iām not too picky on price (To a reasonable degree) i just want the best parts when putting this stick together for use on a 360 and would like to know if itās better to buy the IL Eurostick or the Happ Competition and replace the actuator? From the post it seemed like the eurostick was higher quality but it was called āSquarerā, so Iām now a bit confused.
And quick tech question, since Iām hacking an official 360 pad and it has separate grounds are the switches (For both the stick and buttons) bidirectional or is one stub always ground and one always hot?
how do I calibrate the LED? Judging from the pics there should be some black plastic washer inside the stick that I can bend but I donāt have that on mineā¦
I donāt have that black thing in the middle. Do I just bend the actual diodes closer to the center or further away? Or do I have to do something with that black thing?
Well I tried it out again and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didnāt. So I tried bending the diodes closer to eachother (not sure which so I did all of them), seems to work now. Also checked underneath and seemed like one of the darker LED was partially blocked by the plastic so I tried to bend it slightly towards the openning more. Guess that does it.
First post so, Hi
Having read this thread quite a few times am I right in thinking that Happ Competition joysticks are just not worth buying these days? Iām building my first machine and I had those in mind initially but, want to make sure Iām getting it right. Are the Supers affected by the same problems?
Iām using 3/4" plywood for my control panel which is cutting down my choice options as Iāve been recommended Sanwa JLFās and JLWās but, fitting them could be very tricky as there isnāt much clearance with the connections going by photoās in comparison to the deep base of things like the Happ Comp etc.
I take it the Ultrastik 360 are the cream of the crop at the moment? Iāve priced up as an option and it comes in at 121 for what Iād want so, quite a fair outlay. If they are head and shoulders above everything then I may just bite the bullet.
Other option could be the Magstik and then of course I still have to buy a MiniPac to hook everything up.
Wil you be playing games that require an 8 way or 4 way joystick? Also, are you mostly going to be playing fighters?
Bit of a mix, mainly things like Metal Slug, SF, MK, and walking fighters like The Punisher etc So, pretty much 8 ways although I do like a game of Pacman from time to time.
Thanks for any help
I would just say to get some IL Eurojoysticks from lizardlick but Pacman would be a problem then as they donāt have a 4 way mode. Do you have access to a router?
For the buttons, you should be fine with just regular Happ Competition/Convex buttons.
I do have a router, was planning on top mounting the joystick I end up buying. The Happs were my original choice but, the things I keep reading lately have maybe made me overly cautious as I just want to make sure I get it right first time I suppose.
Yes, will be buying the Concave Happ standard buttons.
quick question on the accuator for the p360.
How do I get the accuator smaller for the easier read diagnols? Just sand it down? Put it in the lathe (though thatād be way too small to even put in a regular lathe) and use bits or freehand it with a file/chizzle?
Probably just sand it down, but I wanna make sure before I do it.
Hey all, I thought I would post my question here as well. I am trying to figure out how to shorten the shaft on a Happ stick. My full question is here:

Thanks.
Do thery make transparent Convex buttons? I have concave, but want the other way for the next project.
Seimitsu is the only company that makes transparent/translucent convex buttons. You can try them and you may like them. Most people, including myself, do. Sanwas are better but Seimitsus are still good.
Hey guys, I plan on swapping out the Happ parts in my Mas stick for new ones and was wondering if it was going to be as easy as ordering the parts from Lizardlick and swapping them out. I also see that they have 2 types of competition joysticks and two types of happ buttons (ones that are long and others that are shorter as far as the buttons go) and wasnt sure which ones would be best for the mas stick.
Its for a PS2 connection if that matters and any help would be appreciated!
IL Eurostick
Happ Competiton/Convex buttons
You are going to have to solder as mas doesnāt use quick disconnects.
Was hoping I wouldnāt have to solderā¦
Thanks for the post evil at least now I know I need to look into soldering first before ordering any new parts.
