The Hunter X Hunter Thread (New anime series has begun!)

(I could see the snake being behind the rope “Risk”, though it could also be those gas entities or Brion depending on what Brion’s weaponry actually is.)

The training arcs amount to things. It’s just that unlike other Shonen manga, if Hunter x Hunter even count as that, that the training arcs predominantly for characters who aren’t the sole hope. Thus other, stronger characters often get wrap up fights rather than everyone relying on Goku Naruto Ichigo Gon to do basically everything, which is kinda refreshing.

Unless that’s what you meant, in which case…yeah.

Regardless, it would indeed be nice to see Gon get to do more now that he’s better since basically everyone but Leorio seems to stronger than him at this point, even some of Killua’s butlers and Killua’s mystery sibling; I still <3 Tsubone. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s just a bit jarring.

Well, chapter is out.

It looks like ‘bringing back’ means they just brought stories of them back, rather than the things existing in the normal world? Maybe Gon won’t be in this arc afterall.

Finally the address the one question why they want to go to this dark place given all the risk.

  • They do bring back some of the calamities. Of the 5 calamities, as Ging stated, only Ai and Papu victims are showing up thus far in their world. I guess once all 5 signs of death related to the calamities are happening, the world is doomed.
  • Gon losing his Nen. Makes sense as he has to give up something in exchange.
  • DON FREECES!

Manga spoilers:

[details=Spoiler]Looks like Killua forgot to mention to Alluka to restore Gon’s Nen, so that means he’s likely out of this trip. I think Gon’s gonna have to go back to Wing or Biscuit and get another training arc. I wanna see the kid get some good stuff.

Lynnette from the spread of the Dark Continent= that Hor’Dourve old woman who said she missed Netero, so I’m guessing she’ll want to go back there for another adventure. Curious to see what she has to say about her experience there. And the reveal of another Zoldyck family member who was there with Netero and Linne.

I like how Kurapika knows that even if he completes his goal of collecting the eyes, he hasn’t got a home or family to go back to. His path is pretty much leading to emptiness, which is why he needs to get back with Gon and co.But he’ll be putting them at risk because of the Troupe.

Someone came up with an interesting theory that D Hunter from the book Kurapika and Pairo were reading (from the special chapters) might be Don Freecs. Which would be really cool, it’d be a chance for Kurapika to meet his childhood hero.

Liking Ging more and more. And the Dark Continent creatures look disgusting. [/details]

I have a feeling Yusuke Urameshi will pop out soon enough.

“Hi I’m Don, you can call me Yusuke if you want.”

well, the virus is also in the human world. but the snake and brion look like they are still in the outside. btu then what does he mean that the best way of approaching them is when they aren’t all together? they are in different directions, and the only two would be papu and ai since the disease is contained

Im really enjoy the interaction between Pariston and Ging. As this whole sequence is unfolding with Ging being No. 2, Pariston is just chillaxing. TBH, why Ging wants to be No. 2 is another elephant in the room.

I want to see what path the manga want to take with Gon. I honestly dont want to see another training arc with him. The manga has progress way beyond revisiting Nen and any type of training arc, especially if its training from scratch again. How dumb would it be when the manga progress to Ging & co. battling with the calamities, to then flash back to Gon holding is Nen for 1hr. I would prefer if Gon’s training is done entirely offpanel or he somehow joins this journey and one of the “gifts” in the dark world gives him his power back and then some.

That’s why I’ll probably have to end up joining Viz’s official shonen releases site (assuming I don’t need an Android/it’s available in my region) at some point, difficult to decipher the scanlations.

Someone on Mangahelpers said Ging saying the best course of action is to seal them away now that the calamities aren’t spread out (I’m assuming spread means like a pandemic) and never go near them was a better translation. Eh, I’ve no idea.

I’m liking the interactions between Ging and the whole group. The part where the guy who gave his money to his sister and said he’s follow Ging which caused Ging to say he wouldn’t let him die was cool.

And after what happened in the Ant Arc, I think Gon also needs to mature, literally. That’s where Wing should come in and guide him. Otherwise he’ll probably end up crazy(ier).

I’ve googled and I just can’t find anything, who the hell is DON FREECES?

  • :bluu:

hahhaha
man he’s meaning to say that the person that wrote the book was the ancestor (except he might still be alive) of the freak’s family-- gon and jing’s great great great grandfather

Could Don Freecss be the D Hunter that young Kurapika was talking about.

Also that single panel of Gon, so few words, so many possibilities.

So Don Freecs is still in the dark continent?

Only maybe, but the fact that it is possible makes it seem inevitable.

how bad ass do you have to be to survive there 300 years when even chairman Netero was forced to retreat?

Still trying to catch up with my re-read, just finished Greed Island last night. Great writing…even on a second -pass through I’m still laughing at stuff.
