Lone Survivor is pretty cool. Humble Indie Bundle is pretty cool.

This thread reinforces two things to the nth degree.

  1. There is no reason for console wars.

  2. I should really remind myself to get Linux.

FYI Folks, Humble THQ Bundle… $6 and what’s yours?
Saints Row 3 (Only available if you pay at least the average, which is about $6)
Darksiders
Red Faction Armageddon
Metro 2033
Company of Heroes & Opposing Fronts & Tales of Valor

Just sayin…

That’s a great deal for sure. Shame that SR3 doesn’t come with all the DLC. Such a great game. I’ll gladly buy the rest for $1 though.

I’ll take spares of SR3.

Wow awesome deal for $6, even if Darksiders is the only game I care about.

Something neat that developer Double Fine Productions ran over the past month through the Humble Bundle crew…

The Amnesia Fortnight (pay what you want and help charity)

Apparently Double Fine does this every year behind closed doors.

  • For two weeks, the company puts all of their “real” work on hold.
  • Every employee has the opportunity to pitch a game idea.
  • The most popular ideas are selected by vote: they take the top 5.
  • They split into 5 separate teams and create a playable prototype for each one.
This is one of the primary ways that the company determines what they’ll be making into actual, full-fledged games.

The fun thing here is that this time they opened it up to the public: Anyone can see the pitches, participants were the ones who voted to determine the top 5, the teams live-streamed the making of the prototypes (filmed documentary-style by 2 Player Productions), and then the playable prototypes were released for participants to try. As a bonus, they also added some past prototypes of full games that they actually later created and released.

The event is finished now, but the pitch videos are all up on YouTube, and the whole stream is archived.
