The Hugo Thread

you pretty much have to guess the timing absolutly perfect any letter your probably eating a combo…its probably day one stuff though

Where’s The Hugo Love?

So anyone get to use Hugo last night at the fight club?

Interested in this because there’s been a real lack of hugo footage lately

I remember seeing Poison in the Fight Club videos but not Hugo. I may have missed him skipping through, though. Link here.

check out hugos new improved 720!

Your avatar…I see Fluttershy approves. Gonna give Gief a run for his money for bear killing eh?

Isn’t his Super a hit though?

:shake:sigh* he is being sarcastic

Gotcha, ignore me then.

oh i thought it was a grab but made easy to use since all the other supers imputs were dumb downed.

i just read the 1st page and found out sfxt Giga Breaker is just a fancy hammer mountain…

=x

Yeah thats how I interpreted the original post which is why I said that…guess I’m not as dumb as I thought.

I don’t get why Final Atomic Buster is a 360 motion/360 running grab charge, but Gigas Breaker isn’t a 360 motion/Hugos running grab charge?

but either way, i have no problem with Gigas Breaker being a hit/qcf motion

I haven’t been following this game as closely as I should have. What’s the word on the importance of team composition? Is it as important as it is UMvC3?

For instance, I’m really looking forward to Hugo, but I can’t imagine not playing Zangief. Would a Hugo/Zangief team be at a disadvantage because they have similar weaknesses? Or would that be “no big deal?” I’m mostly asking out of curiousity, because no matter what I’m gonna be playing tons of Hugo/Zangief.

We don’t know, game isn’t out yet.

Gigas Breaker is no longer an actual grab, so Monster Lariat → EX Monster Lariat (basically just Hammer Mountain) → Gigas Breaker (basically just a cinematic Hammer Mountain in function) makes a lot more sense as they’re all derivative of each other now. It was an odd change, but as mowr said, I guess they wanted to further differentiate him from Zangief.

the reason behind the motion for Hugo’s super is simple(however not universally) because of the special move that is Super Chargable into the SuperArt. being able to combo into his super easily is truly a great perk to Hugo. Any wall bounce should do it(Ultra throw, EX Palm), and it does good damage to boot. Him being able to combo his throws makes him different from Geif, however they are both two sides of the same coin.

we know Geif hates projectiles, however he has moves to get around them(green hand, Lariat) and his Command Grabs do alot of damage. Hugo on the other hand doesn’t have as many options against projectiles(with no parries, all he has is Palm, or EX Monster Lariat-I think). However he makes up for those short comings with being able to combo his throws/specials or SuperArt, one would argue to say he even has better tools as he as a Anti-Air throw and better EX options as Ex Palm Bomber wallbounces, EX Monster Lariat hits with three different attacks(making it a great move to tag cancel from).

Personally I think he’s great however, I have little experience with him and I don’t know the in’s and out’s of his overall potential. I do know that he’s different from his 3S incarnation in certain ways however, like being able to combo into and out of his Palm Bomber for example, and this was still in the newest build too.

Edit i was ninja’ed

HUUUUUUUGO.

Wow, the dude has got it. He did cr.:mp: Clap, cr.:mp: Lariat and still had time to juggle more off the Lariat. So good.

Kinda sad that he didn’t talk about his other moves at all, but good stuff none the less. Lariat seems really good, super armor is all kinds of silly.

Super Armor on lariat? I like this alot
