For me crouching LP is by far the best thing to clap off of on juggles, my backbreakers NEVER whiff on that. Do it when theyre still pretty high in the air

I gotta say how much I love Hugo in this game. I just won a gamestop tournament with him and Julia.
Anyways I just saw this cross counter invitational video and the Hugo play is great and the salt effect after it makes it all the more hilarious.

Also won a tournament today. Does not feel deserved as i pretty much only did jumping splash and caught people trying to jump away into 400-500dmg juggles. I feel hugo is a good character, but still has some bad matchups. But because of his insane damage you are never out of the fight. You just need 1 good read or mistake from the opponent and you are back in the fight.
I won the tourney here coz I was the only one there lol so I got all 3 prizes :lol:

I still see a lot of people saying you end your combos with LK Backbreaker in the corner which is simply not true. You can finish with MK Backbreaker for like 8 more damage on your BnB. Its negligible, but more damage is always better.
Grinded a bit with my Nina in the lab, helped me pull out a win at a tourney yesterday! Man, I had to come back from the losers bracket so the grand final set was like 40 minutes long!!! (two , 3 out of 5 sets)

All that Nina practice and too much neglected Hugo practice. Oh well. IDK but tag combos that start with ex lariat can get pretty outrageous on the damage. Then again, if you get an opening, for 2 bars it might just be better to do the bnb into super.
man you can keep out hugo all day with projectiles, I wonder why gootecks wouldn’t use them with Poison.

Also, I need advice against shoto scrubs. Usually when shotos knock me down they would jump over and do a crossup mixup. On reaction I usually wait until they land an try to get a 360 grab but sometimes they fake and do a neutral jump to do “fake jump ins”
What do you guys do against neutral jumps used to fake jump ins? They do this to Avoid being grabbed on ground
This is an old trick, especially against grapplers. People are going to see your 360 attempt coming if you dont condition them to block first with some safe pressure.

he means train them to block by setting up a pattern, Like I wakeup with Lariat sometimes, it makes them not want to neutral jump or put out pokes. Then I go for the 360 when they start blocking on my wakeup.
Whiffed claps on wakeup work wonders for setting up 360s too. Mix up with meaty claps.
Have you guys messed around with any of Hugo’s normals? Been trying to play around with some stuff other than his lights and mediums.
s.HP: Solid overhead, especially since it’s a standing normal. Can be chained from c.LK and mixed up with c.LK~c.MK to keep them guessing. On hit you can cancel into a launcher or TC into a partner and land some hits.
s.HK: Another overhead, but this one is slower. However, it is airborne from frame 1, so it can catch a lot of characters trying to hit you with lows. It’s also steerable for extra range or retreat. On crouching hit it gives a ton of stun, and more on CH, so you can TC and land big damage off of it. I’ve been using c.LK, c.MK, s.HK some lately. If the lk mk hits, they are downed and you recover it time apply some pressure (c.MP beats most things here). If they block, they usually try to punish the c.MK with a c.lp_c.lk and get hit with the s.HK.
c.HP: Haven’t played around with it too much. I know it works decently as an AA but other than that I dunno.
c.HK: Same, not much I know of other than it has some decent range.
f+HP: I use it occasionally as an AA farther out, but backbreaker does it’s job better.

Im talking about using it when poking at a distance with cr.lk~cr.mk. its a nice once a round thing that can make your opponent wary of crouching after they get hit by it.

Eventually lariat on wakeup will he useless as like every character can stand outside of command grab range and do jabjab/jab medium to beat lariat and be out of grab range.
