I don’t think you can tag cancel it, but you might be able to juggle after it by other means.

yeah, sorta bothers me people are getting the game early and we don’t see any Hugo stuff besides rival battle/cut scene movies
but then again we did just get 7 days of like 3 people using Hugo on Cross Assault

Anything you guys are curious about? I got it yesterday and am maining Hugo. He’s fantastic so far. The only thing gone from 3s that I’m sad about is no clap clap combos anymore. Now you have to stick a cr mp in between. His air grab combos are a lot of fun though.
Also you can combo into butt stomp now, it’s no longer completely useless!
what’s hugo’s way around projectiles?(if any)and does the poor range on his grab annoy you a little?

How safe are the Lariats? do they hit crouchers?

Is s.HP>SPD a good tick? I already miss Gigas and i dont even have the game yet…
He doesn’t seem to have an easy way around fireballs, although claps nullify them like 3s. However when you charge lariat you get a hit of armor, allowing you to blast through them if they are close enough into a combo. You take the fireball damage in red health.
The range on his regular 360 is a bit of a bummer, and it seems to be the same for all three punches (this seems to be somewhat of a game-wide thing happening). Damage is also the same for all three strengths, with EX getting a damage boost. Hugo has a lot of other options now though.
651 damage (nearly 70% on Ryu): Body splash, cr mp, lp clap, cr mp, lp clap, Gigas
350 or so before launcher: (decent launcher combo I’ve been using): Body splash, st lp, st lp, st lp, st mp, cr roundhouse xx launcher
You can also replace the cr roundhouse with a st hp (overhead) with identical damage.

As I said you can do crmp, lp clap, cr mp, lp clap however.
They don’t look safe, but I’m not sure. I haven’t played any matches yet, just training. They hit crouchers. The lariats lead into juggle combos however, and EX lariat is a Hammer Mountain style 3 hit combo.
Also- Body Splash, st lk, ex lariat works for a bit of a 3s combo nod.
Probably Moonsault, the standard 360. Ranges among the three punches seem identical and the damage is for sure.

No way! You can do things like crossup splash, st lp, st lk, 360 though. Perfect range there. Of course Hugo also has his running grab when you’re a bit out of range.
One of the things 3s players will have to adjust to is that you can’t hit super deep splashes any longer. Luckily hitstun from it is huge and you have plenty of time to combo. Also you get free combos into air grab off of trades.
how hard is the clap to crouching m link?
It’s not difficult. Just think of it in two pieces: cr mp xx lp clap, repeat and you’ll be fine.
Also, you can start with any clap, then go into cr mp xx lp clap.
Eh sounds like hugo’s gonna have a bit of a harder time against projectile users than zangief

Jumpin,c.mp xx lp.clap c.mp xx lp.lariat c.jab xx lp.clap mk backbreaker = Costs no meter, easy to hitconfirm, insane damage.

c.jab xx lp.clap mk backbreaker or straight into super… he does not have any long juggle combos
Hugo vs dhalsim is hell… can’t do shit other than hope the dhalsim does a mistake.
Good call on the lariat instead of second clap. That’ll be fun. I played a little online and Hugo really does some insane damage. I hope it stays that way!
Also in the corner you could do cr lp, lp clap, st lk, backbreaker off of lariat or ultra throw.
what kind of trades do you mean?
This was happening all over the place on Cross Assault.
Basically if you go for a body splash (possibly other moves/situations too) and they have time to start a jump, or do something that trades with them off the ground you can get a st lk into backbreaker or cr lp, lp clap into backbreaker with the right positioning.
