Doesn’t HF blanka have larger throw range? I think he can also do whiff ball->crossup s.MP->headbutt/bite after throw unlike ST as well?
JeRon care to play some HSF2 at TS6 for casuals just for kicks Guile-Guile??
I wanna see other styles and how you guys play…
Cool. I’ll offer you the same challenge that I offered Cole. 4/7 for a nice Top Tier Breaksteak Combo. Yum.:lovin: In AE of course.
NKI, I agree with most of your points regarding HF over ST Blanka but I gotta disagree with Guile vs Blanka. HF Blanka negates or trades to his advantage almost all of Guiles k pokes. No need for risky jumping. Also, up ball is so good that if spaced right, it can beat a Flash kick clean. Of course, none of this holds true against WW Guile. WW can just sit and turtle on Blanka all day. Blanka just needs one knockdown to win that match though.
DeeJay is very tough. I definately agree with that.
Super and ST Chun are very tough on HF Blanka. Very few moves can out prioritize Chun’s arsenal. BUT! Ce Blanka is a monster against Super/ST Chun. This is the only version of Blanka that can blow right through fireball --> instant lightning kicks. I mean literally jump in on the lighting kicks with fierce P and smack her in the face. Try that with HF or ST version and you’re gonna get beat almost every time.

Sorry sir I quit breaksteaks 2 years ago. ^.^
We’ll figure something out though! lol
Well ST Blanka can do the same thing and in most cases it will dizzy the same…nothing different there except Hyper gets the slight extra damage
Obviously your not gonna do “Raw” super. His super is good for chipping off a dying opponent “only” because its punishable and thats the only time it should be used. Also the fact that he can hold the super baits ppl into doing Dp’s and other panicy stuff (and everyone does) cause they try to time and hit it (Obviously because they dont want to get chipped and use whatever means calling upon the situation to get out) Hop foward isnt that good but it is if you do it randomly once or twice in a match after a buffered low foward. Catches everyone at least once. No it should not be used as a prdominate strategy. Hop back is good because it lets him get away. Thats mobility!!
Yeah hop foward would not work against a good player and like I said before it shouldnt be part of a stradegy but it is good to use once in a blue…outta the blue. You can land hop foward grab on ppl because I’ve seen it tons of times.
As far as one having the adavantage over the other. I will say its debatable depending on who your fighting. ST Blanka can fight Guile and Deejay whereas Hyper has trouble and vise versa for ChunLi. Saying that ST Blanka’s options of hops, and slide isnt better than priority and Up ball isnt fair at all. I still say that ST has the slight advantage. Agree to disagree though!
I’ll be bringing my copy of AE for ps2 so yeah if theres a spare setup for casuals we can definetly get some games on. Right now Im currently playing T. Ryu but yeah I’ll do some Guile footsies with you.
Good good JeRon, keep on playing T.Ryu, we need more T.Ryu players…shoot, sometimes I feel so lonely because I feel like I’m the only one who gives T.Ryu love, inv. hurricane kick ftw.
eruditemode - Sorry I somehow managed to miss TWO of your posts in TWO different threads…
I know it doesn’t work on certain characters, but I don’t know exactly who. It works for sure on Guile, Sim, and Gief, plus possibly others. Don’t think it works on Ryu/Ken. By the way, why not do j.RH for the cross-up…?
No, because you will be too close, and you will get his close st.Fierce (the overhead chop) which is too slow.
The close st.Strong (where he doesn’t extend his hand as far) is the one you need.
Weird question: Is AE pickier about inputs than other fighting games? In every other game I play (3S, GGXX#R, KoF2k3) the only move I can’t get to come out consistently is Hugo’s 720 grapple, but in AE I frequently get c.HP or a fireball when I’m trying to DP. Is it something about the game? Since I can DP in every other game, I don’t think it’s that I can’t do the motion…
The Start trick doesn’t seem to work on the XBox version. Back just selects the character, and holding Start does nothing. (the two together, obviously, resets back to the title screen)
Anyone able to prove me wrong is welcomed to.
Start trick? Do you mean the method to play original characters in ST or SSF2?
At mode select, hold down the back button and then press any other button than start (preferably A) on S.TURBO to play original characters in ST(Chun-Li & Honda stored super) Do the same on SUPER to play “old” versions of characters from ST. You’ll hear a bell ting if you did it correctly. This only works in S.TURBO and SUPER modes.
You might have not have been holding “back” during mode select and trying to do it afterward. After that, “back” acts as 1P on an arcade cabinet and that would give you an alternate color.
If that didn’t work, are you playing with Xbox controllers or with adapters for PS2 controllers? Do you have many controllers plugged in? One time my setup was acting buggy with no controller in port 1, my PS2 stick w/adapter in port 2 and various controllers in port 3 & 4. Try removing unused controllers from their ports and see if it works then.
Bump! Now that AE’s gonna be at Evo its time to start playing this game again!
T. Ryu/ ST Guile/ CE Bison taking it to the next level of cheapness!
Btw anyone going to Mid West Im running AE as a side tournament…also I’ll take any MM that anyone would like!
Lets get it poppin!!!:wgrin:
Hell yeah so true JeRon…I didnt get to play you in either NGBC or HSF2 Guile-Guile…but with that being said EVO could be the opportunity…
Man when is the MWC? If I can get cash soon I will go…
Check Events its there! But yeah we’ll run into eachother one of these tournaments! I’ll have to start leveling up in NGBC again! haha
Will do man…thanks a lot!!! See you soon…keep up the skillz!!
The input commands for oldschool are more demanding, so basically there’s less room for error, so basically your going to have to do things pretty accurately.
Yeah! Blast from the m***** f****** past!
