THE HSF2 AE MEGA-thread

So for arguments sake do people still believe that CE Bison is “unstoppable” in this game. I remember in the ST thread people were saying that he should be banned, which is pure crap because hes not game breaking The few AE tournaments that were won by US players on statistics:

These are the results from about all of the AE tournaments on record Dark Geese.
Some people say AE isnt tournament worthy and it messes up ST timings, thats coming from a few OG players, and yeah the timing is harder to adjust to …because its a new game. Characters that were top in ST are still good but now it seems like theyre weaker or “toned down” when in fact there are just stronger characters in the game. Anyway as I said in the other thread all the perfectly clean fights/counter fights to CE Bison
ST Blanka, ChunLi, Ken, Zangief, Dhalsim, Vega
Hyper Ken, ChunLi
WW Guile
That is all!

Nobodies playing T.Ryu… , am I the only one who plays him and feels that he has potential…or has everyone forgotten about him.

Nah, T. Ryu is rock solid. Although I would agree that it’s rare to find any T. Ryu players on AE. Same goes for T. Blanka. T. Blanka can most characters in AE a real headache and and just plain destroy others.

~Decoy

That’s what I’m feeling, T.Ryu has probably the best fireball game than any Ryu in AE, has the invincible hurricane kick for close quarters, so you can zoom right past people who throw fireballs and make them eat your hurricane hurricane kick. 2 in 1 combos with aerial hurricane kicks, good damage potential, good dizzy potential, imo T.Ryu>ST.Ryu, but I guess since most players who do play AE a fair amount are ST. players sigh, oh well. I’m just happy to see that tournaments have been held for this game, which imo I feel can have some great and interesting competetion.

I like HF Ryu myself. And yes Hf Blanka can be a pain also

ST.Ryu is where it’s at. His super that combos off of almost anything, his f+fp to dash in close for rushdown, his lk tatsumaki that builds mad meter, combos off of low normals to stay in close to keep rushing that shit down… Even has a quick overhead, and a crazy j.mp that juggles all to hell. The only reason I could see wanting to play T.Ryu is because of those lame 2 hit dizzy combos and his fireball. ST.Ryu is so much more versatile and his super can change the dynamics of a match very quickly.

Damn right Wes right?? LOL

JeRon thanks for posting those results…dispell myths people may have.

I’ve been out of the Street Fighter loop for a while now, but i heard that that the japanese version of AE is a perfect arcade port while the american version is lacking in some ways. So my question is what are some differences between the Japanese and America version of AE???

And one more question is there a version of Third Strike that is a perfect port of the arcade??

Is this post for real? This has to be a joke. There is no way you can be like, 'man - ce bison sucks - take a look at these results!!

HAHA - yeah dude, ce bison hella sucks.

Claw wall dives are fucked in US PS2 AE, JP PS2 AE is ok, and its ST portion is based on the final JP revision of ST with some tweaks (O.Sagat nerfed). I compared the timing of the wall dives with the JP rom of ST and JP PS2 AE and they are the same, dunno about the World or US roms tho.

And like it has been said before, I forget who, all the versions of ST have weird, but very small, but again weird differences, JP, US, Asia, World, etc…

Don’t quote me on that last part tho, since I just read that here many months back.

Never said he sucks. My gripe with the whole CE Bison thing is that people 1. wont learn how to fight him (as I’ve stated the numerous characters that give good fights to him) 2. Are too lazy to learn! Theres a very small tournament base for this game but if more players/Top players played it more competetively people would see AND exploit CE Bisons weaknesses clearly.
If your an ST player you should already know how to beat him. I played a number of CE Bison players and I beat them all with virtually little to no problems (including Justin Wong using him on me at MW) Casuals I played him on Wilson at MW and he beat me!.. He knows…ST player!
For those that dont know heres the secret…PLEASE RUSH HIM DOWN AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FACT THAT HE HAS NO REVERSAL!!!:wonder:
There! Now Im not saying its free but it really all depends on the player. He’s just as if not stronger than the ST characters but almost all of them do very well against him. There is no direct counter to this character which is why ppl bitch about him I suppose.
btw I had the wrong results from Texas Showdown but I was able to pull up the correct one.

whats ST Vega’s best combo or chain.
please tell me a good way to deal with T.ken, my bro loves to shoryuken. I kn ow how to stop the shoryuken. Is that all I should be worried about from T.ken

Low Foward…Strong, Jump Fierce. Rh, fwd…strng
low foward x2, low strong
Vs T Ken thats actually a hard fight for Vega. Faster recovery dp’s mainly. While Vega is more versatile take advantage of that and attempt grabs. Low strong and bait dp then punish. You have to have exceptionaly faster reaction to this because T. Ken has the quickest startup and recovery on dp. Get a lead and maintain by sitting there. When he jumps, flip kick. Use mixup wall dives after knockdown too.(after slide)
Just dont get knocked down otherwise your done!!!

yeah I KNOW thanks btw

Try CE Vega. Big damage, easy combos (low strong xN), wall dives work, and throw HURTS. Just try it… you lose some, but the damage off throws is hilariously good haha.

Is there any good THawk combos?
I know d+hp(cross), c.lp, c.lp, s.b+lp, mp dp move.

Jeron you forgot the results of the HSF2 tourney that wilson held at MWC2k4. I forgot who won though but it was one of the OG’s for sure (probably Choi/Watson.)

For me personally, versatiliy does not always neccessarily mean better, take for instance CE. Guile, because imo CE. Guile>>>ST. Guile because of damage output, dizzies, and ST. Guile is far more versatile and mobile then CE. Guile. ST. Ryu maybe more versatile, but his fireball game when compared to T.Ryu is horrible and the hadouken imo is one of Ryu’s most important gameplans and having a fireball which gives you the fastest version and the fastest recovery is a +, Shinku-Hadouken is great, I will give you that. However imo Invincible Hurricane Kick>Shinkuu-Hadouken, because I don’t have to build meter to use, Shinkuu-Hadouken can change the outcome of the battle, but it has too connect first, also if it misses, you have to build it again, and you don’t even get to launch Shinkuu-Hadouken in a battle no more than either once or twice. Invincible Hurricane kick is too good, this makes opponents who fireball fear it, because you can zip right pass it and smack them in the face, and make them think twice about wanting to fireball you again, because of the invincibility you can outprioritize pratically almost anything, giving you a great zoning tool, it can also get you out of corner traps because of it’s invincibility, this move imo is one of the biggest reasons why I say T.Ryu is the best Ryu, because it’s too effective. I’d rather have T.Ryu’s fireball, inv. hurricane kick, high dizzy potential, better zoning game then ST. Ryu’s versatility/Shinku-Hadouken, because imo, zoning to chip away an opponents life is probably the most important thing in oldschool.

I agree with you JeRon, I didn’t think that CE. Bison should’ve been banned as well, and I am very glad that he was not. It does not change the fact however that CE. Bison can destroy anyone very quickly within the game, because he can, however he needs the momentium on his side all the time, and there are characters whom can fight CE. Bison very well, not just the ST. players. JeRon is right, take advantage that he has no reversals, and that his jump is super floaty.

To end, CE. Vega owns, I personally prefer him over ST. Vega…imo, he probably has the most damaging regular grab in the game, I swear, two grabs from CE. Vega and you’ve lost basically half life, it’s ridiculous.

Where are you getting these results from?

  1. I do not play AE
  2. I have never entered a AE tournament with WW Guile
  3. SVGL never ever had AE

I don’t understand how Ricky and I am winning tournaments in a game that we don’t play at an arcade that never had that game. Please do not post false information to help prove your point.

I remember a tournament last year may not have been at SVGL but it did say Street Fighter Anniverssary with about 20 players and that you used WW Guile, otherwise I wouldnt have posted same for Ricky. The reason I know Ricky’s was because this was after the Canada when I beat him I looked on the boards and they had AE SF as results so they posted him and the character he used and I was like "oh he’s using CE Bison now? If you say you didnt play then you didnt play but thats what I saw on the boards. Another aracade in Nor Cal possibly.Cant fish for those results posted since it was a while back buuut… you didnt/dont play so at any rate my apologies.
