THE HSF2 AE MEGA-thread

Mmmmmm… ST Ryu is a one-man wrecking machine. Easily my favorite incarnation of a shoto.

Hahaha I shouldve known Wes would drop by MY THREAD…HAHAHA…I wondered how long it would be before he got the message…hahaa…but Im already doing my homework on you Wes…thanks to NKI and co…haha

=)

CE.Ken is good but if you are going to play any thing other then ssf or ST use HF. air Huricane is too good and you take less damage.

As far as Ce being better then ST. No I dont think so. Mixups off his knee bash grab, Short short xx super, and his FB’s are almost identical to CE/HF’s, Crazy kicks for mixups and pass through glitches, air jab xx hurican for tick thorw, his far standing RH to punnish wiffed normals or specials. Sure CE ken is solid but I would not give up all the options I have with ST for any thing.

The only reason I would put HF over Ce is beacuse HF takes less damage. Other then that there is not much difference. And the damage increase you get for CE is not a good trade off for taking more damage. But that is my opinion.

Well there is much more then the super that makes ST better then HF. Air Huricane kick crossup, fierce rush punch to either gain ground to pressure or throw the opponent, Over head mp that can combo into cr.forward/Cr.RH, Red FB for corner traps, Short Huricane for advancing and pressure games. HF ryu is strong no doubt but I would make him even with SSF ryu over all. Invinceable Huricane (IMO) is not worth useing HF over ST and even ssf ryu.

I agree with you that ce.bison is strong and one of the best in the game. But he can not deal with Sims drills all that well and gets owned up by Rogs rushdown. I would say that against sim/rog ce.bison is 70/30.

Just my .50c

Awesome man. I look forward to it. I won’t be so rusty next time, either  My ST Ryu eats CE Guile’s for breakfast! haha

Thank PezMan. I appreciate the correction.

That would definately put CE.sagat above HF.Sagat

WW Ken is a motherfucker. My friend hit me with his hurricane kick and BOOM I’m dizzy with two hits. That shit hurt.

Just a quick ? . What’s the best way to get out of a trow, like Balrogs head bang? I can do it just fine but my friend can’t do it worth a shit. I don’t mind but he yells in the mic “WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!” and asks me how I do it. I just say “I do it…” any mash patterns?

I don’t even think you have to mash to get out of Rog’s throw quickly, just wiggle the stick. It’s probably one of the easiest mash grabs to escape, but it’s still tops cuz of the options afterward.

Want to know the tier of Guile in each game, I hear that CE’s the best, could someone tell me why? Isn’t that the version with the 2 hit flash kick?

Both CE and HF Guile have the 2-hit Hard Kick Somersault, but that’s irrelevant. From what I’ve gathered, CE Guile has more range/priority on his normals and very quck Sonic Boom recovery. I think HF Guile has the same recovery but his charge time is possibly a bit longer; it’s definitely longer for the Somersault.

Champion Ken ftw.

I love sf2. What a great game. Can someone post up exactly what to press for CE bison and what it does (I don’t mean move list, but the combination/strategy that people seem to brag about). I keep hearing he is the shit, but I have no idea what are the tools to use.

His standing kicks (Medium Kick and Roundhouse Kick) are really good pokes.

The simplest thing, is to just do psycho crushers. They do a lot of block damage, and randomly crossup halfway sometimes it seems. If your opponent is any good however, he won’t let you just do them repeatedly, but they are a no-brainer counter if they whiff something or jump.

If you get a knockdown, crossup crusher is an easy and really good thing to do. Once they land on the ground, do an early psycho crusher over their body so that when they get up, you’re already halfway past them and are really only hitting with your ankles. They will have to block the wrong way to block it. Which results in another knockdown, so you do it again, and again, and again. If you mix up the timing slightly, they won’t know which way to block. You can actually get really far with this dumb tactic.

For the scissors, just do it. It’s a good move, and you are safe afterwards. If it is blocked you can :

  • go for a throw (meh…)
  • do ducking MK (this will hit their counter throw attempt)
  • do ducking MP, standing MK (this is a combo), then you can just do another scissors right away after the MK… and then do the same thing again… and again. …and again for a little sorta-lockdown loop that rocks against characters without good anti-air specials. If your opponent is any good however, they can try to pop the next scissors with a DP or something. This is why you can just simply wait instead after the MK, to bait out the scissors counter and THEN punish.

If scissors hits, you do ducking MP, standing MK anyways. Then they will be dizzy… if this happens, start charging and do a whiff roundhouse slide as they are falling (to get close while charging). When they get up, do ducking LP, ducking LP, standing LP (hold the button down), MK-scissors, ducking MP, standing MK. If this doesn’t kill them, this will redizzy them, meaning you can just kill them anyhow. (the redizzy combo is basically the normal scissors combo with duck LP x2, s.LP in front of it)

So, one connected scissors equals death, and a blocked one means a really really bad situation for your opponent.

Then there’s other stuff, like crossup roundhouse, and using straight jump RH for anti-air or d.HP against certain attacks, (safe) far/meaty roundhouse slide, doing s.RH after d.MP instead of s.MK, meaty ducking MK into throw/RH/Scissors, using headstomp to avoid fireballs, reading reversals DPs/etc after blocked scissors, snuffing/trading projectiles with his standing RH, jumping straight up over FBs, using whiff scissors to close gaps if they jump back, etc.

Nos99, that was exactly what I was looking for…but are you sure CE Bison can land low jab, low jab, standing jab in AE? I tried linking those low jabs to the standing jab and by the time I had landed two jabs I was pushed back pretty far from the opponent so my standing jab whiffs air.

The rest of your advice is delicious.

I don’t think it works on everyone. Blanka for example, maybe vega… i dunno, i can’t recall right now. but for the most part, yeah, it works, just do them really fast.

hey, where did you get those numbers? I assume from here… But how do you know for certain that AE O.Sagat and Arcade/AE Super Sagat are the same?

I can tell he’s different just by playing, but do you have a source for that ?

I just scrubbed hella victories with CE Bison using your advice on XBL, hahaha, I will work on him some more…ST Vega is still by far my best character though.

How come normal Gief is so hard to hit when he does the spinning clothesline move? It is hella random whether my Vega slide will trip him or not, and sometimes it won’t, Gief cancels the spinning move into SPD on my ass.

What do you mean by “normal” Gief? I know that if you try to hit HF Gief with the slide during his KKK Lariat, it will always whiff, since he has lower body invincibility.

Hmmm, maybe it was turbo but I am pretty sure it was regular SF2 Gief, does he have any glitches during his lariat? It seemed like he was canceling lariats into lariats or something, it was very strange looking and got me sometime. Definitely different than ST Lariats in properties.

He means WW Gief

Is there any notable differences between HF Honda, Super Honda and ST Old Honda?

Why CE Guile Cigarbob?
