The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

Thanks to SilEighty - just got my SE upgraded with Sanwa JLF and OSF buttons from Gremlin Solutions in UK. With the advice from this thread it was very, very easy and only took me about forty minutes. Buttons feel great now although I’m having to get used to the stick after playing with the sloppy Mad Catz stick for the last week.

In the UK the SE for PS3 still available on Gameshark site but I don’t know if they are second wave or not. Also notice prices are dropping on ebay - seen a couple of SEs go for less than retail this last week.

we found some fightstick SE’s at the local frys on the first. after a couple games we checked out the washer to see that it was pretty loose like the first run sticks. also, we used springs found at a local hobby shop to mod the joysticks as well.

I was able to snag a SE off of Ebay 3 days ago for 86.00 which is basically normal price if you include tax…shipping was about 7.50, and now I am playing the waiting game…

The seller said it was used, which is probably why I was able to bid on it so cheap, I would have payed up tp 115.00, but I got lucky I guess

He told me he had no problems with the buttons or stick, and I am just going to tear it apart anyway…

Ebay seems to have quite a few SE’s, but finding them for 360 is tough

Yeah I grabbed my SE from eBay too for 109USD + USPS International Priority shipping to Australia. All up it costed me 220’ish AUD… Darn the Australian dollar is so crap right now.

So I’m retarded and ordered the vanilla LS-32 and not an LS-32-01 with the PCB mounted microswitches and 5-pin connector. Is there any way I can make this work, or am I just going to have to order a LS-32-01 whenever aki-shop reopens?

Gremlin has 32-01s right now…i ordered mine a few days ago…and there should be a way to use the reg ls-32…do some research/googling and you might be able to find some answers…

what size are the 4 screws that hold the mounting plate to the black plastic thing that is surrounding the shaft. Sorry if im vague, i dont know what to name that part

Look above please.

Has anybody shopped from video game central?

Apologies, I am indeed a numpty. Wave 1 and Wave 2 identical. The threaded “sleeve” I thought I saw was indeed a bolt. All fixed now. Thanks Raj and thanks SRK!!!

Now where is than Ken flowchart!

I guess this is as good as any place to ask. I’m gonna order new parts for my se stick but in the mean time I’m trying to fix it. I glued down the loose washer but my pcb is absolutely fucked, like REALLY warn down, and my left and down direction doesn’t work, even with the washer glued down. Is it pretty much done for? Just wait for my new parts?

I installed a regular LS-32 in my stick and it works fine. There is one place inside the stick that you’ll have to Dremel to make room (right below the bottom left corner of the Guide/Turbo PCB). Plus you have to solder wires to each direction of the stick as well as ground wires. That takes more time than just installing an LS-32-01 after rotating its plate, but if you can solder and Dremel you will be fine.

Yeah, once I found my multimeter and figured out where each wire went it was pretty easy. My dremel is broke though, so I had to kind of shove the mounting plate in there and only managed to fit in three screws. I might fix that once I’m able, but it works perfectly fine as is so I’ll probably just leave it alone.

Next on the list is dual mounting a PS2 PCB so that I can use the stick for more than just SFIV. This is my first stick mod ever; am I right in thinking that using a non common ground PCB is going to be prohibitively difficult if not downright impossible? The only PS2 PCBs I have at the moment are these two, and while I could probably rig some bullshit up using a bunch of diodes everything I’ve read suggests that it would be a thousand times easier to just try to find an early PS1 pad.

That’s right, a non-common ground PCB would be impossible without some custom PCB in between to make it work. Instead of putting a PS2 PCB in there, you should consider an MC Cthulhu board. It works with PS3, PS2, GameCube, and Xbox 1, but you don’t even have to install the cables that you won’t use (or you can make it modular like this.)

So I just ordered parts for my SE stick and I may have a small problem, I ordered the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK

is that compatible

It work’s perfectly. It’s the same stick as the 8YT but the extra -SK just means it comes with the black shaft cover. It’s the exact stick in TEs.

THanks, I figured out that the base component is the same. I wonder why that SK is cheaper when it comes with a shaft cover? I actually ordered a shaft cover as well, so I guess I will have 2, but I payed the same price as the other model…funny

Might have something to do with the lower price specials but that is a good point.

I don’t know if this has been answered yet but…

I was just wondering if anyone has tried dropping the seimitsu LS-40-01 in the se yet?

I know the first post doesn’t mention it, but everywhere else i’ve looked people just say “maybe”. Does anyone know for sure? cuz that’s the stick I’m eyeballing.

EDIT: Never mind I learned how to use the search button. According to Lizard lick it fits in there fine, just in case anyone else was wondering.

cant disconnect quick disconnects!

is there some trick to getting the quick disconnects to come off… I have slid the wire up but can pull the metal off of the button. NEED HELP!
