The how to deal with durpy stuff thread. Exploring install supers, more missiles

If she keeps pressing buttons, press buttons back. What I mean by that is that if you stay on her and not let her breathe, then its alot easier to deal with her.

Yeah that makes sense, it’s just that all of her normals come out so fast. Especially online.

I’m glad I’m not the only one having problem with this… Help please

I play Zero tron and nemesis and what helps with me is to play keep away or stay above nova and attack from air. I was having trouble too because i would always get hit by his H or get air grabbed.

how do you deal with dorm + disruptor and flame carpet mixups on incoming characters. that shit is so derp. i play zero/trish/vergil or dante. i tried to run away and rain down busters but dorm’s normals nullify projectiles. when zero died i had no way of dealing with welcome mix ups

If your losing to scrub Vergil’s you have no one to blame but yourself. He is by far the easiest character to fight against if the person does not know what they are doing with him. Let them put you in a block string. After they do cr.A, cr.B pushblock the st.H and punish him. It is literally that easy. His jump S is terrible. Just block it and punish him with a grab. Magneto can zone Vergil out pretty free with Magnetic Blast and drones. Just be careful if the Vergil players has a good beam assist because that will eat drones. Nobody who picks up Vergil will be good with the character in 15 mins. It just does not work like that with any character in this game except wolverine. He actually takes practice and some patience. While he does have some good derp hes still harder to play than like 80% of the cast.

Honestly I’m starting to think he is impossible to air-grab during that…seriously that shit is annoying. Talk about an brainless character.

Hax is probably talking from an online perspective. Offline a bad Virgil is practically free; if you don’t play smart with him everything he does is unsafe.

Online, however… Well, depending on how much lag you’re experiencing Virgil can become the most bull shit character in the game.

In semi-related news: Fuck Capcom for misspelling Virgil.

Seriously, fuck a Magneto with Doom missiles. That matchup is unbearably difficult. 10x worse than drones, if you ask me.

I absolutely fear Magneto’s absurd high-low mix-ups. Normally when hidden missiles are going off I’ll jump into them blocking so I can’t be mixed up. Though of course you now have to look out for a grab as soon as the missiles are done. I prefer this to trying to block Magneto though.

Funny enough Tokido’s SpinKing team (Mag/Missiles/Jean) lost to Vergil/Taskmaster/Wesker player that just waited for him to call missiles and then teleport sniped him into happy bday twice. Part of it was due to being too hasty with the missile calls and not moving backwards to protect Doom first but yeah.

two things i want to know about.

  1. round trip derpness - them crossing me up. is there any way i can punish after they teleport?

  2. morrigan- he whole character is derp and im very bad at this matchup. building meter doing her power up hyper r u kidding me? annoying mobility, fly/unfly soul fist, etc.

Im going by the team on your signature.

  1. What I do is I block the round trip and try to super jump out so I don’t have to deal with the mixup. If you are already in the air, you are just gonna have to guess where to block. Punish? Maybe. I do hit buttons sometimes after I block the round trip + teleport and sometimes Im able to do a full combo and other times I get beat out. I think it has to deal with timing of the round trip.

  2. Wesker- Super jump and teleport. If she has missiles, then its gonna be harder to get to her, but that pretty much what you need to do with Wesker. Limit the damage and chip and get a hit on her.

If you are on the ground with Wesker, staying midrange is good. You got the stupid range of cr. M and st. H to punish stupid shit she does (IE. Not blocking) and you got gunshot to stuff out assist. Also if she is in the corner, please airgrab her. Don’t be afraid to call Doom and teleport. You got some Derp characters yourself.

Taskmaster- Midrange is where you want to be. If she does anything stupid, you do shield skills. Arrows beat out fireball and Dooms assist is remarkable for Taskmaster. Punish those assist and shield skills stupid shit they do.

Doom- I honestly think this match up sucks for Doom, so I suggest that when she is in double mode, you super jump and you do photon shots and plasma beam with fly. You have a decent cancel when she doesn’t have that mode on.

Regarding her movement, I say always jump and go for airgrabs. She is in the air 90% of the time anyway. Her ground dash puts her in the air lmao.

damn u know never thought about it like that with vs morrigan. i would usually block and try to attack but never occurred me to JUMP outta her shit. same with the round trip mess. i usually block it cause scrubs vergils do the same teleport mix up but yeah imma start moving more vs those two

thanks brah

How do I deal with Firebrand doing that swoop into dive grab repeatedly, got blown up by this online and I don’t know what to do. The move sometimes crosses up and sometimes doesn’t, trying to meet him in the air for air throw usually leads to getting scratched or kidnapped. I’m using Iron Fist.

Firebrand’s aerial dive grab is extermely difficult to punish, and is safe on block. You need good normals to beat that move, and it’s not a single . It also helps to have something or some type of assist to bring Firebrand down so that he is scared of being in the air. Otherwise, you have to be a bit paitent just block or chicken block’s Firebrand swoop until Firebrand messes up.

When I get back I’ll get into anti hidden missiles stuff again.

I’m in dire need of some anti-Vergil tech. I can deal with pretty much any other character in the game but this guy just makes me salty no matter what character I try against him. It seems like I’m in blockstun forever and all the while I’m getting mixed up with teleports, rapid slashes and all kinds of stupid stuff and no matter what he does, he usually ends up being safe/having the advantage. I know he’s top tier and all but there must be something I’m missing that could give me an edge against this character.

General tips might include:

  • Get a feel for their Rapid Slash tendencies (how often they do it/which normal do they usually cancel into it/do they wait at all) and the next time you read one is coming OS a throw while you’re in blockstun a couple of times to grab them if they do

  • Take note of their mixups, because a blockstring into RS over and over isn’t a mixup, but if they train you to expect a RS, then stagger a stinger into S to catch your counter for the RS then that is something you need to be paying attention to

  • Conversely, they might train you to not expect RS, at which point you’re much more likely to be seeing frame traps and assist/teleports

  • On their teleport mixups, get a feel for their teleports. Crappy Vergils generally go for M teleport every time, but it’s just as much of a mixup for them to train you to expect M but they do L or H and you’re thrown off because it’s harder to see due to the assist they’ve used

  • If they throw on swords and you’re not in blockstun they are punishable by stuff like Bionic Arm, Chaotic Flame and so on

  • Helm Breaker has a huge hitbox (it’s like an enormous square in front and above him), and it’s not worth trying to fuck with it, just chicken block and they don’t call an assist or immediately cancel it into a hyper then you either get a punish when you land or get to put them into pressure

  • Once you see their first H or S or whatever in a blockstring, they can’t hit you low unless they stop their string and start again, and holding up-back at that point can let you jump over their RS

  • Swords > M Teleport does not crossup, so you don’t need to worry about it

  • A common round trip mixup is to throw it, let it go through you once, let it come back again then Teleport M behind you so it comes back through you agian for a quick crossup. This and a lot of other Vergil left/rights can be auto-blocked if you pushblock as late as possible

  • Swords actually have quite large gaps in-between each hit, and XF > L normal can often work, though an invincible move is much more advisable, but if you’re in dire need of an escape from him, XF > Snap Back is very good.

Dunno if any of that stuff will be helpful to you, but it’s all that’s coming into my head right now.

if i have Haggar, would an XF -> Lariat work well? i’d love to know exactly how many frames are in each gap of the swords

this is key. i feel like most bad vergils always RS after stinger. but most good vergils have their own little tricks. the worst one (that i just straight up never block) is when they teleport behind me, then immediately RS.

raw RS in general is the scariest thing to me. because i have nothing to pushblock and no indication it’s coming. when they end a blockstring with RS i can at least late-pushblock the last hit to keep myself in blockstun to include the RS (i kinda discovered this by accident).
