The how to deal with durpy stuff thread. Exploring install supers, more missiles

I play V.Joe/Vergil/Morrigan

With Joe I try to zone or mach speed but unfortunantly Mach Speed cant catch both Spencer and his assist :frowning:
With Vergil I’m at a loss, I try teleporting but Vergil’s teleport is so slow
With Morrigan I probably do the best as super jump corner height is Spencer’s worst spot to deal with

Six Cannon will catch them. (you can also try his dodge move). Groovy uppercut might work too (not sure).
Vergil, dont teleport ! his sH got massive range and nullify projectile ! you beat spencer and the assist with it !
Morrigan, yeah fly and make soul fists rain down.

i Play Nova Spencer hawkeye AND every time i chicken blocked i got teleported on and doom missles came out any tips against that

Just try to stay next to Strider from the start of the round so you can stuff doom missiles when they are called early before they come down.

Hmm…I have to bring up Trish once more. I know it’s funny to you guys, but that stupid divekick always beats most of my moves and leads to a full combo. I’ve been able to slap the bitch out of it by doing an armor’d anti-air sM, but I’m pretty sure she can special cancel the divekick anyway. Most of the characters I play are large enough that it’d probably cross me up if I tried dashing under it…

Trish in general is fucking annoying. If I block the divekick and pushblock; LOL NOPE I’M SLIDING UNDER YOU. Then, when I’m cornered, trijump/dash/whatever jL, cL + Beam assist all day, erry day. I try to chickenblock that, I really do. But I get hit. Every. Fucking. Time. Yes, I mad.

Also, Deadpool vs Any Big character? I keep getting lamed out by the red bastard. jM-Guns is virtually unavoidable. His fM beats any of my armor’d moves, and is seemingly unblockable online (and I know it hits overhead). Up close they mash that 5f cL and I can’t do anything. It seems that none of my characters have a way around it. The few wins I do get are from cornering them and they fuck up, or XF3 Sentinel/Doom. Anyone?

The way I beat Trish is by getting a charged Voomerang out with Viewtiful Joe or by staying above her raining down with Morrigan.
With other characters I’m not too sure.

Deadpool vs the giants is a tough and annoying match for the giants but do-able. Super jumping avoids the jumpM guns but its not the best tactic. If you’re using Sentinel you can try flying to manuever better. If he jumps too high, you can try timing a Hyper Sentinel Force, then X Factor if it hits and fly over there for a death combo. You gotta try to block f+m on reaction, and command grab when he finally sees his stuff isnt working. You can power through some moves with sent’s s.S because its got hyper armor, although its kinda tough cuz its got slow start up. I still say its 6-4 Deadpool especially 1v1.

Havent played Spencer yet to try this, but thanks.

Also, s.H with Vergil can’t negate beams, can it? Besides that though Spencer sometimes super jumps after he calls beam so I cant hit him with any of these things :frowning: (cept Morrigan)

He cant call assist while super jumping. Spencer at super jump heigt cant really do scrap.

You normal jump to avoid the beam and intercept spencer, or if you can you punish this kind of foolish assist call oO;

A good Spencer never super jumps unless he absolutely has to, up air grapple will get you to SJ height and still leave you 3 air grapples to move around with. Its easy to do if you just wiff a s.L into grapple.

Frank West derp fucking knee drop beat my s.S with Vergil at a casual tournament yesterday. Needless to say I flipped the fuck out and almost threw my pad. I seriously question why I play this game.

That move is dumb as shit AND it’s an overhead. He can do it right off the ground too. Annoying.

For Ghost Rider’s jump S, IMO you should try to block it and then start mashing on pushblock. You can pushblock his chain whip twice and then he gets pushed fullscreen–way out of his effective range. He has to start dashing toward you if he wants to keep pressuring with the chain, he doesn’t really have fullscreen options.

They gave him that knee drop cuz he’s really a waste of a character minus 2 moves until he gets to level 4. Vergil has way too many cheap hit boxes of his own any way where you kinda just have to hold dat if you get hit.

I am still getting wrecked by Vergil teleport + multi-hit projectile assist vs Hulk. Do I seriously just have to stay locked down, hope I block correctly, and be spaced out by his ridiculous range normals?

After extensive testing I have come to the conclusion that.

Dem Knees > s.S (Trades in Franks favor since Knees cause Hard Knockdown)
Dem Knees > Devil Triggered Rising Sun (WTF)

Dash back s.H > Dem Knees (Go to hell Frank)
Jump back Helm Breaker > Dem Knees

Yeah you just have to make it whiff. Obviously they would give Frank one move that beats everything because he would be more dead in the water than he already is before level 4 otherwise.

You’re kinda forced to guess on welcome mix up situations. If you have a character with a double jump or air dash (especially 8 way air dash) just air dash upwards or forward/back out of the way of the mix up if you can. Only if you’re playing like Hulk should you just simply fall to the ground like a brick and let them do whatever.

If they’re punishing you on reaction with inferno after blocking it…that must mean you’re doing something that they can visually react to. Bait the inferno out by dashing forward or making it look like you are going to punish then block the inferno. They’ll safe DHC if they have meter and if they don’t safe DHC or just can’t do it for whatever reason, hit him.

Generally you just have to use movement to deal with the meteor smash. Try to make it whiff and then use the bait and punish options when he tries to do something else. It can cross you up even if you go in the corner so you definitely have to be careful about just trying to sit and block it.

Honestly I feel his air d+H dive kick is more of an issue since it’s basically a safe on block dive kick (can’t throw punish it, XF guard cancel it etc).

For the Ryu stuff, try to pick an assist that can clear out drones assist so there’s less stuff to deal with. For the air S stuff, dash under and punish. For Morrigan’s air S, same thing.

Far as Ammy…I don’t play against much Ammy but just try to stay blocking and push her out until you find an openiing.

Wesker…stay above the area of the assist and watch for the assist calls so you can sometimes make judgements to hold forwards to block the assist. He can’t call the assist during the teleport so look for the assist to appear on screen or for him to verbally call out for the assist and react based on that.

Magneto shockwave…block. You know they’re looking for this so bait it and block. It’s unsafe on block from what I’ve seen to a lot of beam supers or fast screen travel supers also.

Dive kick…if you’re using a fast character try to dash under it if he’s doing it from too high in the air. You can also use XF guard cancel to punish. Any invincible or armor based move helps too. Otherwise just block and push block.

B Slash…just try to keep him spaced out and fish for throw punishes. You can throw him out of B Slash now that it’s not invincible anymore also.

Against Ghost Rider…the j.S stuff is on the front page. s.H…block or stay far away outside the range of it.

Air delta kick = try to get behind it where there’s no attacking hit box or chicken block punish it with a normal or throw.

Haggar…never faced one that regularly does that so I can’t really give any advice ATM.

Anchor Hawkeye = snap him in. If you do have to fight him just hold on to your XF and force him to burn his first.

Anchor Dorm = snap him in or hold on to your XF like above. Anchor Dorm is retarded so good luck.

Deadpool stuff, I would say just try to stay on top of Deadpool from the start of the round so he can’t call missiles without Doom getting hurt. If you have characters based around rushdown just stay on top.

I don’t fight against Spencer enough to really know what to do outside of air throw his zip line stuff (that’s if it’s not covered with an assist like a good Spencer will most likely do.

I suck against Trish too. Just try to land a hit and kill her when you land it. Cancellable dive kick is lame as hell.

Deadpool vs. big characters…I don’t play any big characters so don’t have too much help there. I guess just good luck. Hah.

Task (H.Arrows) / Dorm (Hole) / Doom (Beam) here

  1. With Task, You can use Shield Skills ( :b: + :h: ) to plow through the projectiles and basically end up in a neutral position. One trick I like to use is do a dash xx Shield Skills to basically put me at the opposite side of the screen as far away as possible from Spencer giving me an advantage because now I can call an assist and he can’t. Usually I’ll do an air Aim Master ( :d::df::f: + :m: ) once I’ve recovered to try and sneak in some chip or catch him trying to do another zipline uncovered as it covers almost all the angles he can come at me from.

  2. Dorm’s :m: , :s: and cr.:m: cancel out projectiles and are excellent AA options against this. Another option is to just do a teleport and basically end up above all of it. :m: and cr.:m: can also be cancelled into :l: pillar or teleport to further avoid and counter.

  3. Doom doesn’t have any built in options as good Task or Dorm, but I usually dash forward and then do a jump cancel to get over the projectile and pass under Spencer. This helps me create space and then throw a photon shot to try and start gaining control

More general options including:

a) If the projectile is slow (i.e. Hadouken), then simply wait for Spencer to be moving across and then do a forward jump over the projectile. That way, he’ll be moving away from you and you’ll successfully dodge it

b) If the projectile is fast (i.e. Triple Arrow) and you have a wave-dash, I would recommend dashing towards the projectile and then canceling your dash into a block if you can’t jump over it. Since Spencer has to move across the screen, you should be able to create enough space to avoid being overwhelmed

c) Any hyper that will catch them both (Ryu Shinku Hadouken, Akuma Beam, Chaotic Flame, Photon Array, Mags Shockwave, etc.) is a great way to discourage your opponent. While not a reliable option all the time, if you have meter to spare and can punish them once, it will generally dissuade them from trying it again (or at least as frequently.)

d) Any teleport will also get you out of that situation (including Felicia’s sidestep)

e) Haggar drop kick into roll is actually a really great way of avoiding projectiles and moving across to the other side of the screen but requires you to do it early (which may not be possible against really fast projectiles or if you don’t see it coming)

f) Jump up once you hear the “clink” sound Spencer’s arm makes when it hits the wall, and then use an air-confirm combo (or use and air-throw) as Spencer is defenseless until he’s arm detaches from the wall. This one takes some practice in the lab and a little bit of yomi but once you do it, you can almost hear your opponent cursing over the internet

g) If you can, Super jump is also a viable option but be careful as the Spencer player will probably chase you down. At the very least, it gives you a second to think of what to do and helps create some space

h) Final option is to chicken block the projectile using AG as late as possible if you can’t do anything else. This should keep you airborne enough to be air blocking and negate high-low mixup as much as you can. Also, it makes it a harder confirm for Spencer as a j.:s: against an air-borne opponent is not as easy to combo as a j.:s: against a standing (or crouching) opponent.

Hope that helps!

Throw me in the “zero must die” crowd. Everything is durpy with this character.

His long combos build stupidly good meter, almost impossible to keep out because of his normals and reach, can fill the screen with shit, smh! Another one is Morrigan’s Soul Fist Labyrinth, lotta dead bodies in there. If I touch any Zero he must die (XF, THC, I don’t care)

So…is there a way to counter spiral sword Vergil? or am i contractually obligated by the game to block 2 mix ups in a row anywhere on the screen just because he spent a bar ?

my team is Nova/Task/Deadpool.
Secondary is Nemesis/Hulk/Sent.
