The Horror Thread: Talk all things macabre

Just saw The Guest, by the same guy who directed You’re Next.

Pretty fun flick with a good soundtrack.

posted this in the Lounge awhile ago, but it got buried fast:

Can’t believe the Tall Man is still fucking alive.

Eli Roth said in a recent interview that Clown is a lock for 2015 and Green Inferno is all but certain to be back on track for next year as well, here’s hoping.

Still no Thanksgiving movie though?

I gave up hope after the fifth year of him trying to get funding. I’d say it’s a lost cause now anyway as the balloon sailed long ago for that one.

So Netflix has Nightbreed Directors cut now. Will have to give it a watch.

Babadook was extremely good, didn’t understand the ending. I liked The Guest a lot and loved the soundtrack, like a mixture of Drive and Maniac Cop.

Just watched Tusk, not awful, but not good either. I guess my mistake was going in expecting The Human Centipede but with a walrus instead, problem is this movie isn’t nearly as dark, is poorly paced, and they took the transformation into comedic territory.

Keep your expectations low. Nightbreed is closer in tone to Hellraiser 3 than it is the first Hellraiser.

Dr. Decker is a cool character, though.

Of course he is, it’s mother fucking Cronenberg. Being directed by Clive Barker.

Babadook:

Spoiler

What I got from it was that the monster was a manifestation/metaphor of the mother’s Sorrow or Grief over the loss of her husband. That’s why after she finally faces it, it goes into the basement and lives there where all her husband’s belongings are. The feeding of it symbolizes that it’s (the emotions) still there, but she has control over it (them).

I’ve seen Nightbreed before. I just haven’t seen the Directors Cut. I alway thought Dr. Decker was an underrated villain in the horror realm. I mean his whole character was beyond creepy and he had a very unique look. That charisma though.

I like Maniac Cop 2 and 3 better than the first one…hell anything with Robert Davi is generally gold

I need to watch Nightbreed DC…used to rent the vhs bitd with Rawhead Rex

Watched Insane on amazon the other night, still no clue what it was about.

Think if Tommy Wiseau directed a Horror flick and that is pretty much it.

Anyone who likes survival horror games NEEDS to buy Teleglitch:

Got to meet the entire main cast of Dawn of the Dead along with Romero and Tom Savini today at a convention. It was pretty amazing. I spent way too much money for them to all sign my Ultimate Edition DVD.

There is some Horror convention coming up in Dallas that had the cast from Phantasm and other big names coming up.

Gonna get so much swag there.

Watched The Voices last night. Pretty good dark comedy film. Kinda like American Psycho except instead of a crazed, perverted yuppie we have a naive, not all there man child who comes off almost as the jar jar binks of serial killers. Was a fresh role to see Ryan Reynolds in.

yo, can you pick me up one of the little Sphere’s or something, or maybe an autograph of the Tall Man if he’s there?

He’s suppose to be there, if I can sure.
