Yeah, my bad. lol I didn’t want RGB until I saw the ArcEye 3 demo video. I’m thinking either Kaimana with a Brook+EZMod, as that’ll be easiest(I think there’s enough height in the case to stack all three boards, the EZmod board doesn’t add a ton of height), or a Remora with a purpose built harness as it’d be cheaper.
You can get start+select support out of the remora if you just wire buttons and mount them in the spare button holder(Or reroute something as select through the harness). Might not be the cleanest solution, and you’ll need to open up the stick everytime you want to reset your LEDs, but it’s a solution.
There’s plenty of room
What I meant was you can’t wire up LEDs to start/select. You can use the start select buttons on the VLX face for setting modes, but you can’t have them react to button presses for LED effects like the Kaimana can. Remora = 8 buttons, Kaimana = infinity
BOOM!! This thing is a beauty!! I’m really digging the colour scheme, I like it better than the OG VLX, I wasn’t a fan at first in the pics, but on hand, I’m really really liking it! - after all red is my favourite colour
Those new Falcon/Hayabusa buttons are fucking dream. Got to test them out at Arcade Shock’s booth at NCR… really hoping they aren’t stingy about the colors this time around and we actually start seeing them with the same kind of variety as Sanwa and Seimitsu.
I wouldn’t mind seeing them in some sort of translucent color like white, blue, red but not totally clear more like a frosted color, might look cool with it’s textured plastic. I guess like when you put a clear glass mug in the freezer.
The dimples are where screw studs (or some other hardware) are pressed or welded to the panel.
Although the dents detract from the appearance, I did know that some of the old OG PS3 and Xbox 360 VLX sticks had a issue with those studs breaking off.
I rather my $300 stick to be built like a tank over a sports car and if that means seeing dimples in the sheet metal where hardware got attached so be it.
@Jannodude yes the VLX is by far one of the best gaming accessory out there. And no, I haven’t tried the hayabusa yet, I’ll give it a good crack this weekend.
@Darksakul yes, I’m getting over the initial shock of the dimples… It’s just a great piece of hardware and I definitely much prefer this colour scheme than any of the other VLXs, that being said, I’m am officially saving up to get the other two
Those dimples have nothing to do with any of the mounting points on the case. The dots on the artwork are where the panel studs are. If anything, its damage from the machine that folds the sheet metal. Also, you have to look very closely, but there are marks on the Diamond, the brushed texture covers them up, but they are there.
As a sheet metal engineer myself, my opinion would be they come from poor handling during a transition in manufacturing. I’d imagine that right after these panels come off the press brake, there are no dimples. Maybe the way they are stacked and then transported over to weld, maybe @Darksakul 's theory of mounting hardware or general assembly, the point is that there is something along the manufacturer path that causes this. They seem to occur in varied locations, or sometimes not at all. Luckily both if my VLXs don’t have any dimples, but it does suck considering how much they cost.
that kind of looks like its been dropped. And since the plastic deformed that much its not something u can restore to look like it was never there. The plastic on the side isnt really flexible and its also screwed into the side of the case. If it bent that much some the inside of the side panel might also be damaged. If you want to buy it you should request for pictures of the entire stick to make sure theres no damage to other places on the stick.
