The Hori PS4 VLX thread

I didn’t even open the bag that comes with the cloth/cap. I have moistened “face towels” that I use to wipe down my VLX after each session. Microfiber/glasses wiping cloth should be ideal for the surface though.

I wasn’t even planning on opening that baggie either; but after I swapped in my Seimitsu parts, I realized I didn’t have two 30mm hole plugs to use. So I ended up using the stock Hori ones from the bag. I’ll replace them with Sanwa hole plugs when I get some more (I like the smoother top-surface on the Sanwa hole-plugs; the Hori one are very textured).

Nice, I’m glad I’m not the only who swapped the buttons. Did you swap your joystick as well?

Yup. Just realized I posted in the New Stick thread, but not here.

So am I understanding it correct that both the Kuro and the Haya have the same top panel surface, but the only the art underneath is different? The Kuro looks much more shiny/reflective than the Hayabusa, hence my confusion

The top layer IS the art surface.
Just like the old TE Rnd1 or Rnd2, there’s a glossy printed plastic sheet that’s glued on top of the metal panel that serves as the top-most layer on the VLX.

Haven’t used either Kuro or Hayabusa VLX yet. Been too busy. Also, need to trim & mount the felt material sheet (sticky surface on one side) to the underside of each dust cover I got from Michael’s. Hopefully, that’ll avoid the potential for light swirling marks underneath & around the dust cover. I use a soft cleaning cloth as well.

Forgot to show mine. I think it looks great. It does have the metal post marks, but little things like that don’t bother me one bit. Swapped out the stick with an LS-56 and the buttons with obsf-30s.

@FreedomGundam

Nice looking! I’ve always wanted to try a bat-top. Maybe I’ll order one just to try

Ive been using the hori cloth and it works well for me, i have like 0 scratches from using it. But I use a bigger microfiber one i have had for a while since its bigger, either one work for me though.

@EVAC434 all vlx have clear plastic top with vewlix art under it sandwiched between the plastic and metal panel. kuro’s art is like a charcoal color and the hayabusa is like a brushed aluminum color. both have small mirror finish details around the buttons and dustwasher then their main color. black for the kuro and infra red(nike color red) for the hayabusa.

@Digital- thanks, I finally understand now! I’ve decided, after a lot of back and forth, that I’m going for the VLX. Will post when I finally get one.

F.Y.I. The Hori cleaning cloth only works well when its clean and free of major dirt.
Get some grit in that cloth and it becomes like sandpaper, which applies to any cleaning cloth.

There’s a few of us who got their VLX within these past two weeks and is very happy. Let us know when you get one and post pictures!

I’ve had my Hayabusa for about 2 weeks, and I love it. I dropped a kowal restrictor, actuator, and 2 lb spring in, made a world of difference!

I heard the actuator gets caught with the restrictor. Does yours have that issue?

the top panel is not ‘flush’?

@networkingyuppy installed the JCC Auxiliary Panel for me last night.

I got the full kit.

so fresh and soooo clean! Black on Black on Black.

the buttons have a really nice feel and require a deliberate push to activate.

I had installed 3 buttons inside the cord compartment to accommodate for a 6 button layout and tri-mod which disabled most of the original aux panel functionality.

But now I have Home, Select, L1, L2 and the PS3/4 switch easily accessible on the top of the case!

FYI the panel only seems to fit in one direction making the Rocker Switch the furthest right slot as shown in the pics on his website.

Thanks Jasen for supporting our obsession!

@rygod Can you post pix of the Aux Panel?

Or are you looking for more detailed pictures?

@aszyd Assuming you had a brook UFB, what do you have that dip switch on the right configured to?
