The Hori PS4 VLX thread

it depends if you are comfortable drilling a hole into the vlx somewhere for a neutrik plate.

and @rcaido

is that kuro’s paint already stripping :expressionless:

Pretty sure that is an original red VLX with a panel swap.

I bought the red vlx from a friend who has had it when it first released, not sure when it started peeling. I ended up switching an extra VLX kuro metal panel with it, so i can have a nice clean trinity.

I use that sound proofing pyramid foam that can be bought on amazon. I believe some user here used some other stuff to line his stick also… i think he posted in jasen’s thread about doing it to his panzer fight stick on the last pages.

Are the buttons easy to change on the Vewix Kuro? I’ve only changed buttons on the original TE. Is there anything I need to be aware of that could be helpfu? I have to use silent buttons as my wife would freak out with the “clackyness” of regular Sanwa buttons!

You remove three thumb-screws from the cable compartment, flip the panel open, and swap out the buttons, which are connected by individually colored QDCs. The hardest part is probably removing the thumb screws, you will probably need a screw driver to break them loose the first time.

Thanks! I’ve ordered Sanwa Buttons and the foam inserts as the silent buttons are sold out everywhere. Are you using stock Hayabusa stick/Kuro buttons on yours?

its just as easy as switching the buttons out of your TE only the panel pulls open after removing the screws in the cable compartment. 100% easy.

you can order sanwas that have the silencers already in them from FocusAttack.com… not sure if they are sold out since I havent checked. ParadiseArcadeShop.com might have them also along with their own inhouse made silencer pads.

Thanks, IIRC both websites are out of stock when I checked last night. I’ve read some reviews that the foam silencers from FocusAttack.com are less “mushy” compared to the official silent Sanwa’s. I’m going to play around with the Hayabusa before thinking of swapping it out to a JLF. I haven’t played on a stick for years and this will be an interesting experience.

Finally! Aux Panels are starting to ship! Yay!

I’ve tried both Sanwa Silencers and Focus Attack ones and the Focus Attack ones did feel less mushy, but I didn’t like how loose they fit inside the buttons.

As for the Hayabusa lever, I actually prefer using a Hayabusa over a Stock JLF. They are comparable but the Hayabusa has less friction which makes executing motions a lot more fluid. If I were not using my Modified JLF then I’d be using a Hayabusa for sure. My JLF has a Toodle’s SparkCE optical pcb set to the sensitivity I like to use (I change this setting depending on the game I’m playing) and I also use a .5 lbs spring which is a bit lighter than a stock JLF spring. The light spring makes the JLF more ‘Hayabusa-like’ in regards to imputing motions with less friction involved.

you can always keep an eye out on the trading outlet. there’s always people selling stuff for cheap. a lot of people buy new sticks and change the stock stuff for their preferred stuff.

@“Jasen Hicks”

Are you totally out of Aux Panels already?

@FreedomGundam

I contacted @“Jasen Hicks” earlier with this exact question. He said that they will have more in stock in the future.

@2hype
Thanks for the info.
I just got my VLX late last week, and I was waiting to see how I’d feel about the stock Aux Panel before I committed to getting Jasen’s (though in retrospect, I should’ve just ordered it either way). That, and I was waiting for the Brook UFB helper-board to come in as well.

I guess I’ll jump on run #2 then. :slight_smile:

I should have a couple extras when all are shipped out. I typically order one or two extra so I can put them up right away again. Honestly though, I’m really hating looking at my order list being so long because of the pre-orders. Hoping that in the next few days I can get them shipped out, but I do have a few waiting on artwork submissions still!

@Digital-
@EndRant

Thanks for the tips guys! :slight_smile:

thanks, i think i’ll have a try with it. i’m gonna try some foam tape to really get a good adhesion to remove any vibrations.

Looks good, but too expensive.

Not sure if anyone seen this mobile stand before.

thanks to the comments here I have begun playing the VLX on my lap exclusively.

it is as they said, FINE.

I have no quads of steel so I just shake out between sessions and stand up now and again.

there does seem to be benefit to my execution as well as I was using a shaky X-type keyboard stand previously. I scoot the VLX closer to my knees for optimal ergonomics.

I think the stand is still worthy for safe keeping and display.

thanks crew!

INDESTRUCTIBLE!
