The Hori PS4 VLX thread

Oh you tease!

If all goes as planned tonight, I should have my VLX Kuro tomorrow morning, and some less-than-exciting opinions to share. :slight_smile:

So I’ve now found the correct thread for the VLX!

Only problem is it’s not a thumb screw.

The size I’m told is 6/32 UNC 8mm thread length

Now to try and find a thumb screw of that size.

I’m missing mine too so please keep us updated if you find where to order them.

If you can’t find the thumb screws at a local hardware store you can get them from mcmaster.com or grainger.com if you’re in the US.

After reading all twenty nine pages, I’m taking a plunge on purchasing a VLX Kuro! I like the simple monotone black look over the Hayabusa. I’ve been a Hitbox player for the past four years and will be switching over to a stick! I will update yall when my stick arrives!

Why? Get a HITBOX Panel!

I promised a video tonight. It just finished uploading and processing so it’s not quite in HD yet. Enjoy the video that’s approximately 20 minutes longer than the actual install!

Priceless

And with the Brook board screw terminals free, you could dual mod the Brook board with something else for even more compatibility.

Liked the video! BTW how bad is the lag/latency on the Kuro/Hayabusa?

Wow. It looks fantastic. I can’t wait to order :slight_smile: It shall be mine :slight_smile:

I’m content with the current solution I’ve got.

I’ll throw in a mini phillips head screwdriver in the cable compartment slot.

This is the closest I can find from Grainger.com

I spent most of the day trying to find the closest thing and the two that I found are as follows:

eBay 1 - length wise, it’s pretty close to the 8mm that Hori told me, however it doesn’t have that extra part on the thumb screw

eBay 2 - I think this is the closest thing you can ever get from the OEM, only problem is, this guy doesn’t ship to Australia :frowning:

It doesn’t matter, and there is no quality test to quantify it anyways right now. Don’t jump on the latency bandwagon, its a dangerous path.

Thanks! I’ve read up on Teyah’s latency test and the VLX Kuro almost have a 1 frame delay. Not sure if this is noticeable IRL. Do others notice the lag/affecting game play?

So I picked up my VLX Kuro from my parents’ place this morning (I get all my online orders shipped there), and tried out a little bit of SFV on the PS4 on it.

My quick thoughts:

  • Nice and heavy, definitely the best retail stick you can get;
  • It does have a bit of a hollow-sound when playing on it, at least with the stock Hayabusa and Kuros;
  • It’s surprisingly not as big as I kind of imagined it to be; for some reason I was expecting it to be another 20-25% wider;
  • I wasn’t expecting the full foam/cushion bottom, so the stick as a whole is just fine for lap-play;
  • Will probably swap out the stock parts sometime (I’m more of a Seimitsu kind of guy)

Can’t wait to pimp it out with the awesome stuff Jasen’s releasing soon.

Put 0 stock in his poor testing. A while ago @Toodles completely debunked his entire method and nobody with any understanding of electronics puts stock in his results. There is a reason that PCB latency tests are not conducted by anybody credible.

That’s reassuring, I almost scrapped the whole idea of purchasing a Vewlix because of his data/findings. I will proceed with my order! I appreciate it Brother!

That lag thread is a house of lies.

I am really enjoying my GGXRD pad in my VLX!

It almost got me!

You won’t be disappointed. Almost got me, too. Thank you, Darksakul (and Moonchilde) for holding shit down. I absolutely love my vlx and have no problem wrecking people with it!
