The Hori PS4 VLX thread

I don’t know, but one thing is bothering me: the name in the control panel is exactly the same: “REAL ARCADE PRO.4 VLX”. I thought they would at least change the 4 to 5 or something…

It will be 5 when the PS5 is out if Hori keeps up with these confusing names.

This is a very common mistake. A lot of sellers mistake the “V” in the stick’s name as the Roman numeral for “five.” The “V” stands for “Vewlix,” which is the layout of the stick.

Also, Hori’s RAP series get their numbers based on the generation of consoles they were built for.

2 - PS2
3 - PS3
X - Xbox 360
4 - PS4

No, the number has nothing to do with the version or anything else.
The 4 denotes its for the PS4.

There is no such thing as a Hori V5!!!

The 5 came from know-nothing 3rd party sellers on eBay and Amazon that mistook the V for a roman numeral 5.
The V has nothing to do with a 5, its V as in Vewlix.

The thumb screw is doing my head in! lol

I’ve been to multiple hardware stores in Sydney and I cannot find a screw to replace my VLX.

It’s funny the looks I’m getting when rocking up to a shop with this massive arcade stick to try and get a screw tested lol.

I need a replacement screw asap (my stick is being held by one screw atm) and Hori isn’t really helping out that much :frowning:

…why don’t you take that one screw out and bring that to the hardware stores instead?

Do you travel with the stick a lot? Since the Kuro came out I haven’t even been using any of the screws at home, it’s not wobbly or anything playing on it without the screws in.

Can anyone confirm if the new VLX Hayabusa (red sides, hayabusa buttons) has x-input support?

I don’t think it does, at least there’s no PC switch like the newer Hrap V Hayabusa and talk about PC on the Jp Hori site for the latest VLX.

I tried the “based on looks” with the screw and I’ve purchased a few screws that “look” like the thread and size, but ended up not being correct :frowning:

Nah, I use a normal sized stick if I use it anywhere else but home.

I tried using it with no screw, maybe I just mash too much, but when I hit down, the panel lifts off lol - mine you it’s a very old VLX (was the original PS3 VLX)

Most hardware stores have the tester plaque with various threaded inserts you can use to determine the thread size. No guess work with that, just a few minutes screwing around… Get it?

Lol.

The hardware stores in Australia doesn’t have a massive range of thumb screws, let alone these sized ones. I’ll just have to try and preserver and try and find an online retailer that carries it in hope I can find one eventually

Just got my Hori “Hayabusa” VLX. Surprised that it didn’t come with plastic covers/sleeves for the quick disconnects like the Hori VX-SA (360) did.Does anyone know what size quick connect/disconnect sleeves to buy to fit the ones in the new VLX?

Also if I wanted to fit a LS-40 which version would I get to fit in the VLX? I know I need a SS mounting plate but kind of confused as which variation should I be purchasing? The LS-40 or the LS-40-01?

I wouldn’t be surprised, I’m a bit disappointed they did not add the X-input switch on the VLX given that the V Hayabusa has it and was released a few weeks before.

Oh then my bad, I learned something new today !

I always referred the V5 as the ones that have Assign and touchpad function.

I never opened mine up before selling it, are they really bare metal? I would have expected heat shrink, like the three previous models.

The difference between the 40 and 40-01 is that the 40 uses bare .187 microswitches and the 40-01 uses a PCB setup for a 5 pin connector.

Regarding the name, this latest model is not a RAP 4 or V, it is just the RAP Premium VLX Hayabusa.

Also, different stick, different PCB. No X-Input support. Probably saved them a few bucks.

The QD’s have heat shrink just like the previous VLX Kuro:

Only the OG VLX came with sanwa sleeves for the quick disconnects.

It doesn’t… It’s just like the VLX Kuro, as far as my Windows control panel is concerned.

i have the original harness with the sleeves if you wanna trade

So after seeing all the posts in this thread about how the VLX Diamond was stainless steel I decided to import a used one and it came today.

Sadly it was really dirty and rusty but I managed to get rid of it all after a few hours cleaning it.

I painted a cheap walmart dinner tray for it and the height of the top panel comes very close to the arcade accurate 710mm/28in. I also got a chair that’s the same color and removed the back to make a stool.

It also didn’t come with any thumb screws so @mR_CaESaR keep us updated if and when you find them. And here’s hoping the solderless multiconsole pcb brook adapter jasencustoms is working on also works on this and the first VLX.
