having never tried either layout in real life it was eye opening how such small differences in alignment can matter so greatly! I felt like a freshman all over again!
I wanted the 6 button just to have a six button but really, that only feels good for me if I am on the left side of the screen and have my body angled toward the center of the screen.
the 6 buttons in the 8 button player 2 layout felt better to me when sitting to the right or directly center to my screen.
it is no wonder to anyone that these 1P and 2P layouts were the side by side Japanese cab standard forever! (just a recent wonder to me)
I will be playing SFV for the majority of the time for the next 9 years sitting center. so i should get the 2P layout for home use.
But… what happens when I go head to head at EVO?!
do we need to have the 1P panel *also *ready to go? swap it in right before the match up? if we should so happen to get the 1P side!?
Yes, the two Sega Astro City layouts have an interesting design. The 1P layout has you turn your wrist inwards and keep your elbow in so you don’t elbow the 2P on the cabinet. This may be a little less comfortable (unless you have an arm sticking out of your chest, lol), but I honestly didn’t have a problem trying that on my HRAP3 SA.
Whereas with the 2P layout, you can comfortably have your elbow out, as your elbow wouldn’t get in the way of anyone on the cabinet. And the button layout is the most ergonomic placement ever designed. Like ten out of ten times if you were to lay your hand out on a piece of paper and draw where your fingers would lay on the buttons, the Astro 2P layout would be the exact fit. Third punch/kick button being the same height as the second punch/kick button. Non shifted bottom row. Perfect. Something that wasn’t replicated with the Taito Vewlix layout. Although the Namco Noir layout does come close.
There’s a cabinet called the Capcom Impress (and some others are like it too) where they use two Astro 2P layouts. That sounds amazing. Though I wonder if 1P’s elbow would get in the way. But nowadays with fight sticks, you can have any layout you want and not have to worry about elbowing your opponent.
I want to get them all just to make 1 mixed up vlx lol.
I want the middle part of the diamond VLX (stainless panel housing and white back part)
I want the top panel of the new hayabusa VLX
and I want the white sides of the OG VLX

Wow, thanks for posting this. I’ve always wanted this Vewlix C theme for HORI VLX. I just pre-ordered it. I already have the black PS4 VLX as a precaution for SFV, but I never liked how it looked. I was more or less forced to buy it because it was the only VLX for PS4. I had the Vewlix L cab before and I currently have a Vewlix F cab with a Vewlix C theme applied (as seen in the photo with the girl). I had to pay $600 including import tax to obtain the Kuro VLX, so it’s hard to sell it without too much loss. I’ll sell it though, because I only need one stick for PS4.
No prob! I’ve had all 3 VLX’s at one point or another. I liked them for different reasons. Red og since it’s was the first. Diamond due to the raw top panel. PS4 VLX cuz of the all-black stealth look & curious curious about the new Hori Falcon buttons. Looking forward to the new one since it’s my fav color combo out of the 4. No room in the man cave for a third huge arcade stick so I’ll probably end up listing the second HRAP4 VLX on Craigslist here soon.
I had the first HRAP.EX Premium VLX as well, which I liked a lot. I was bidding on a Diamond a while ago, but I lost the auction. I got sniped in the last second. The striped baby blue with white and unpainted steel looks great.
I was going to ask the same thing. I paid $60 USD for shipping to Texas. Just listed the 2nd PS4 VLX on Craigslist but doubt I’ll get any bites until SFV arrives in Feb.
