The Hori PS4 VLX thread

I think you’d benefit from doing extensive research before committing to an irreversible mistake. There’s nothing wrong with asking questions here but it seems the language barrier could be a problem.

As far as material is concerned that depends on you. A textured bulletproof glass print could be inexpensive, gamesongraphix (look it up on google) does a great job. There’s also lami-labels and vinyl prints, all of them self-adhesive. There’s also the option of replacing the entire CP (jasen’s customs), a much better application giving you the ability of keeping the original CPO intact and then you can proceed to add whatever art you prefer, mind as well go for 6 buttons giving you access to both layouts. IMHO the CPO that the VLX comes with it’s excellent, personally I wouldn’t change it but to each their own.

Till this day I still want a VLX Diamond but I know my knee won’t enjoy it.

I think I ordered the last one of these as it was marked Sold Out after I completed my order. I saw that sale deal and was in the market and couldn’t pass it up with the sale AND the AE copy.

I’m kind of excited now because I wasn’t super excited about the Kuro buttons after reading feedback. It would be amazing if this came stock with Hayabusas.

It’s really a good deal. Glad it worked for you! Did yours come with the Hayabusa buttons too?

Yes, it definitely came with Matte Hayabusa buttons. I’m not equipped to test the PCB, but I must say at current this feels like the ultimate come up. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one of these under retail with free shipping, and certainly not incentivized with a game.

I’ve played on one of before, but I now 100% understand the ownership hype. I absolutely love the way this thing fits into my home setup, and out of the box, I’ve never been this satisfied with the aesthetics and feel of a stock manufactured stick.

I doubt this will be my last one…

I agree. At first I didn’t the hori vlx was worth the price tag as well. Then about a year ago I found a deal on an OG red vlx so I bought it. I was amazed and sought out and bought the diamond(after I got the diamond I swapped in white hayabusa buttons), red Hayabusa and then lastly I got the black one that came with the hayabusa burtons.

Yay! Congrats!

I just ordered a jasenscustoms Sega Layout 8 button panel for mine. Can’t wait to get it. I messed up the original panel by drilling a 35mm hole in it for a Korean stick. I want to use a Sanwa lever in it now but the hole looks obnoxious even with a large dust washer. Anyway I gotta get art from arcadeshock.com once they start offering the vinyl art.

Doesn’t Jasen do art for the panels still?
If so, mail him. Applying the art is a test of patience and I wish I’d got him to do mine for me than attempt it myself.

@RagingAvatar No Jasen doesn’t do the art anymore. He tells you to just wait for Layers FGC and Arcadeshock to get their thing going…

I don’t, not any more. I am moving to Japan in about 6 weeks and have started to sell some key equipment that won’t survive the move nor a long term storage solution; that included my printer. The LayersFGC / ArcadeShock folks do some nice work, so when they offer the artwork for these panels it will be worth the wait.

I’m kinda torn in buying a second hand ps3 vlx or the new ps4 vlx. need help with deciding. thanks

Depends if you want to deal with someone else problems or not. If the Ps3 VLX is in good condition and can get it for a good price to maybe get a brook converter for less than the difference, I’d probably go that route.

Honestly, even though I could easily do it…I’d never mod a VLX. Super converters work exceptionally well and the resale value on the stick takes a nosedive the moment you break out the soldering and/or crimping tools.

Also…it’s frakking sacrilege. Leave it stock!

Just posting my OG PS3 VLX that is also posted for sale in the trading outlet. The OG is probably my favorite color and I decided to update it will keeping it stock looking. I swapped the white sides, main button panel, and the aux panel into a brand new PS4 VLX body. that way I could have the updated touch panel with brand new crisp body. I put a brook UFB with Jasen’s adapter and modified it to plug into the og ps3 panel. wired up the leds, turbo, and select while keeping all the original wiring intact. came out super clean.

Looks good. I have the 360 one and was thinking of getting a brook universal, but didnt want to shell out the extra for the conversion kit. Id like to try to make my own but it looks like that isnt happening. I have no idea where to get wires with quick disconnects already, or the connector like in http://www.frankcastleaz.com/images/tt/ps4retail/Hori-HRAP4VLX-DualMod04.png
And that leaves the xbox guide, back, turbo buttons, which Id need to wire to directly or figure out how to use those connectors already in there.
Im used to soldering to pcbs and using barrier strips.
I have a TE1 that acts up so just thinking of pulling all the wiring out of that, use that on the brook in the hori, and use horis wiring to the TE1.
