Just wrapped this up. My Premium VLX with Brook UFB and EZ MOD plus the 1 of 6 made EGRET II inspired direct printed panels. I love it
theyre your sticks so mod to your hearts content
personally i dont like the VLX modded with a non vewlix layout, whats the point, i mean one of the attractions is that its almost a replica of the vewlix cabs, if anything i would put a 7 button panel while staying true to the stock look/finish
I think the form factor has a lot to do with itā¦there arenāt that many wide bodied sticks out there. I donāt know many people that actually think the vewlix layout is good if they learned on older cabs/sticks. I personally find it an abysmally unintuitive design.
i felt the same until i tried the Sega 2P layout and now Iām a believer. i never want to play on another layout.
The āSega 2Pā is pretty standard on most cabinets with 2P controls. Even the TAITO Egret 2 used it. So yeah, my Taito inspired stick has a layout Taito used with an alternate cabinet design
I think the appeal of these panels to me is the fact that it isnāt Vewlix. I personally prefer Noir over all of them. And no retail stick this gen comes with Noir or really anything else tbh. Hori Fighting Edge for PS4 is gonna have Noir hopefully, so thatās why Iād buy one of these panels if I had a VLX or even a TE2.
Double posting error, ignore this comment.
im talking specifically in terms of the VLX, and changing the layout.
in terms of sega layouts, ive got custom rnd1 TE panels and wooden cases with sega layouts, i like noir also, but not on a VLX
Okay, So im contemplating turning my vlx into a hitbox, but iāve never dealt with any kind of pcb board, soldering or anything of that nature.
From what I gather, Iād have to take the following steps
Buy a hitbox panel (from Jasen?)(Link needed)
Buy a Brooks board from Arcade Shock
Install the new hitbox panel (Not sure how)
Install brooks board (Never soldered wires)
Can someone with experience help me out, what was your process like, what was the end cost, etc. Any an all help is appreciated
Also, one of my concerns is that the brooks multi board doesnt have ps4 touch pad functionality. When practicing street fighter v i make heavy use of the positioning function of the touch pad, does the books allow this?
Thanks
- The panel is held on by 8 nuts underneath the panels. Open the cord door, remove 3x thumbscrew, panel flips up. Disconnect the wires from the joystick and buttons. Remove the nuts for the panel. Panel lifts off, put new panel on. Reverse process.
- If you want to buy a HITBOX Panel from me, just shoot me a PM and well arrange payment via PayPal. Ill throw in a lever to Hitbox conversion harness.
- Get the Brook Board and EZ MOD: http://arcadeshock.com/products/brook-universal-fighting-board-with-pre-soldered-jst-connectors No soldering required. Video for install here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgArVd1xSTU
Done. About 45 minutes of work.
ughh how did i miss this. i bought a te2+ for the same
Folks,
Iām sorry if this is a stupid question, is there a difference other than the name between HORI Real Arcade Pro. 4 Premium VLX (Red) sold on Amazon, and Hori Real Arcade Pro V. Premium VLX Hayabusa PS4/PS3 (JP Import) sold on Arcadeshock?
Thanks!
Nope. Arcadeshockās is exactly the same, it was an āimportā before Hori decided to release the red ones⦠Iām not sure if the text on the Amazon one will be English though
Can the red side panels on the VLX Hayabusa be easily painted? What type of paint would you need to use, etc?
You need a paint that can be applied to plastics, you also need to sand the plastic first and primer it.
donāt rely on those all-in-one spray cans, they will peel and flake off.
Unless you use plasti-dip, and plasti-dip is designed to if you want to later just peel it off with your hands.
Gah (shivers). Just cover that shit in 3M vinyl wrap! If it was a TE or Joe-schmoe HRAP Iād say do it. But a VLX requires a bit more TLC IMO. Itās your stick though. Do what makes you smileā¦
i know this is the vlx ps4 thread but the construction should be the same for the older models. i just acquired a diamond vlx that was previously modded with a ps360+. i swapped it out for a UFB however the previous modder cut all the cables to the control panel. Whats the easiest way to get to the control panel PCB? I need to re-solder the older turbo button to TouchPad on the UFB.
Cut all the wires from the CP? He didnāt just cut the JST connections? I think the only way to get to the CP is to disassemble it all.
Iām guessing when the previous owner used a ps360+, he didnāt have the home/select wired up?
I can have a look when I get home tonight and see what I can find.
You have to pull the back part of the shell off. Screws inside and on the bottom of the stick.
Which model VLX is it? I have the pinouts
