The server system is what DoTA has needed forever. Backboning on the Wc3 interface got annoying, and I like how the friendlist works. It’s got it’s own module, as opposed to just being text in the server.
The game itself is very pretty, but my only gripe is a lot of the characters look similar. There’s some original looking ones, but most of the strength are big beefed up dudes with armour, carrying a big up sword, while the agis are smaller, holding two swords. Meh.
Some of the heroes are literally straight ripped from DoTA, with name/spell/model changes. Zeus, CM, Pudge, ES, Wolf, and a few others are exactly the same.
The item system is RIDICULOUSLY awesome. It’s all the same items as DoTA, but the shopping/recipe system has been made so much easier. You can click on a recipe, and it’ll display all the component parts; if you’re near the shop the component part is available at, you can buy it directly from the recipe menu. Such a simple change, but it makes life so much easier. There’s a bunch of other minor changes to the shopping menu whihc has made it much less of a pain.
They’re asking to keep a tight lid on everything else and I don’t want to lose my key, so i’ll just say there’s two maps now, and the new heroes look fun.
Learning curve is very easy because of all the similarities. I was having no problems from my second game.
Just got a HoN beta invite. Only played about 3 games but from what i can tell so far, the game still has many balancing issues with the newer heroes. Besides that, the game looks amazing.
is there a guide or forum where i can read to understand Dota more?
Not the basics like you farm, level, get items. But a more detail, but still general guide that kinda can link a general strategy for certain types of char (like a general concept for str, agil, int chars)
It just sucks when i try and play and they select the draft mode and i have no idea what everyone is good at.
