I got a question for you guys. I got a friend interested in Dota but he’s only got WC3 (No expansion) installed. The problem is, his WC3 uses the same cd-key used for the WC3: FT installed in MY comp, which I use to play DoTA.
Now, if he wants to play online with me, would he need to uninstall the current version of WC3 in his comp, go buy WC3 AND the expansion to play with me or could he just get the Frozen Throne expansion?
It would save him like 20 bucks if he only needed the expansion. I just wanna know if he has to go buy the battle chest or not.

You need to have different WC3 and Frozen Throne CD keys to play online at the same time so he has to get both regular and expansion
i just got back into playing dota. kinda went on a hiatus for a few months. i play on west under: ryuisstrong. anyone in a league? i play with a bunch of homies but none of them want to get serious and try playing in a league which i really want to do. i’m pretty decent so hit me up if you guys want to game
Most of us play on East. Is the lag really bad for you when connecting to EC LC hosts? DOTA is more popular on east then west anyway, isn’t it?

my connection isn’t so bad when playing on east. but yeah i think it is more popular over there. but there still a pretty decent amount of people that play dota on west. i’ll hop on over if any of you guys want to play
It sure is. I think dota on East has more of the serious players, and dota on west is full of clowns that just fool around. At least, that’s what I have seen when I switch back and forth between the 2.
yeah i noticed the same thing too. more people on west do a bunch of em games, and east players adhere to tda rules

So if I went out and bought the WC3 battlechest, how long would it take before I was playing quality DOTA games?
About the same amount of time it’d take you to start playing quality Counter-Strike Source games if you went out and bought Half-Life 2.
