The History of ST at Evo

Shinji,

Hehe, Vintage agrees with you. He’s just suprised that someone else besides him mentioned the possibility of a mode specific tourney via AE (regarding HF/SSF2 modes). He’s been preaching about that for over 3 years :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

ah ok my mistake lol. I know it was deemed as a poor solution for ST (with old Sagat issues). I wasn’t sure how it’d work out with HF.

I’m pretty sure even if there was a real bad glitch it could be instantly fixed via a downloadable update. So ST:HD could def. be the last ST…

If wanted, I have no problem setting this up side by side and taking some video. I recently dragged my Hyper Fighting board inside the house (out of the hot ass garage). Although I don’t have a way to test input lag.

It’s too bad that a couple cheap rigs running nfba can’t be used for EVO. There are at least 50-60 people already set up and playing on GGPO nightly.

DSP: I don’t think anyone will complain about STHD when it comes out because there is no basis of comparison to arcade. THis game NEVER CAME out in arcade, it’s basically a console specific game, which is why it sets it apart from everything else.

I agree, I think EVO should have that.

Dark Gaiden and vintage, how about we try to create a petition for this to happen and address it to ponder and inkblot

Also, here is a link if anyone wants to watch Live South Korean SF2 CE matches(Click on Korean Juggin live arcade):

Btw, I think a couple of my cousins(my Korean side of the family) play CE at this arcade.

battousai: that will not happen. the popularity of sfhd and even ST, trumps ce, hf, ssf2 by a very large margin. and if you have noticed, evo is now down to 6 games in the rotation vs the usual 8-9, due to the fact that evo is just too much of a monster to handle that many games in a 3 day span. you are just preaching to the choir here.

HF can get FASTER? Wow.

uh, HF is slower than ST… slower than US standard ST atleast =)

Super Turbo or bust.

No petitions will work. It’s way too late into the setting up of the event and I’m sure it’s already been like 110 percent decided on. Set up a side tournament (your best bet) or play DC ST since that’s what already been decided on. All this back and forth over versions of ST is lame. CE Guile is great…but you can’t play him in ST. Let’s try to move forward here. He’s still ok in ST. Not great…but ok.

If someone does set up a side tourney for AE…I’m all down for it though. Haven’t played that in a long time.

Is it wrong that I came in this thread expecting to see great stories and history of the players for ST at Evo throughout all the years, and instead stumbled upon some clusterfuck regarding the different versions of ST?

It is completely expected. Definitely in the running for most misleading topic of the year.

Really? Then why is the HF cab I’ve played on play faster than ST? Bad board? I don’t think there’s a switch setting for speed is there?

Dude u were probably playing the crappy ultra cade machine emulated version. HF is only a tad faster than CE. In fact the only thing faster is the specials not the character movements like walking speed.

And here’s the proof:

I dont really play st and I know it might have been a joke but if the GBA version is good/better then Gamecube does make a GBA converter so you can play GBA game on a tv. That will also alow players to connect arcade sticks to the GameCube and use those.

Why are the dip-switch changes so important? I realize that they make the game arcade-perfect, but is that desirable? It seems like the changes that make the game arcade-perfect are undesirable (getting rid of reversal supers, making a character dizzed by a throw unthrowable), and as has been pointed out it’s very hard for individuals to get these dip switch changes in the first place and then even harder for both players practicing for Evo and for Evo itself to get enough copies of DCs with enough save states. Do any of the dip-switch changes have real effects other than getting rid of otherwise desirable improvements?

wow.

Is it wrong that I like the crappy ultra cade version. Last semester I played this everyday at lunchtime. It was the most fun I had in a while. I was actually thinking of getting one for home.

I’m asking the same question.
