The Hendo Hoverboard

So I’m one step closer to getting that Pitbull Hoverboard I wanted as a kid…

If I had the money I would. So much potential for application. I’d like to see what you can do on vertical surfaces. I can see NASA using this sort tech it is easily scalable. eg at the moment they take rockets on a huge rig from the hanger to the launch pad. It takes days to move it because they have to do it slowly to not damage anything. But with this, you could guarantee smooth travel and at speed.

Interesting, too bad it only works on conductive surfaces though.

Still, looks like there would be a ton of practical applications for this.

They should have used a Goku action figure instead, not donating :#

Lol but for reals I want this instead.

So how long until a bunch of nerds make these shaped like broomsticks and start playing Quidditch at the beach?

It’ll take longer to trim their neckbeards for better aerodynamics.

this would be good to replace vehicles, after we completely redo all the streets on the planet.

wow its loud as fuck

Reminds me of Super Conductors

I wouldn’t mind getting a couple of shares of this company once/if it goes public. As stated before, there could be some big time practical applications for this.

Something tells me a Bill Gates or Steve Jobs will somehow pirate this tech and hide behind an army of lawyers.

Read my fucking blog. It’s how the mag-lev sleds in Blitt’s Journey work.

I’m a fan of solar roadways myself for streets and automotives.

Not to mention the need to use actual hand eye coordination.

Rather I’m imagining a future Aquaman cosplay using this.

I thought about this when I was a kid, using magnets to repel the vehicle from the surface, but IIRC magnetic forces are too weak to be of practical use like that. You have to invest a lot of energy and get a miniscule reward for it. I also don’t think that being 5 millimeter above the ground counts as “hovering”… You could probably achieve the same “feel” by different, cheaper means.

Most of those “scientific” kickstarters are just selling fantasies. When practical discoveries are made, the first to utilize them are big companies, who fund the research that discovered them to begin with. Also progress is done with very small steps. If an individual suddenly appears with an “amazing discovery”, it’s pretty much a scam.

I hope that was sarcastic?

in Japan
You know they got those

Lol, this old ass tech…

Here’s an article by The Verge on the hoverboard:

I rode a hoverboard designed to save buildings from earthquakes and floods - http://www.theverge.com/2014/10/21/7025197/i-rode-a-real-hoverboard

1 year away from 2015 and this is the closest we’ve gotten to anything from bttf2. can’t even get a god damn legit pair of mcflys. pretty cool though.

I saw the video and I wanted it to be legit so bad… still feeling burned by the last hoverboard video we had (they had Christopher Lloyd and Tony fucking Hawk), but this one looks cool.
