Hello SoVa ppl. Im mainly a melee player, but i have recently been trying to improve in ssf4. ive played sf since i can remember, but i thought i might see what the sova scene for sf looks like. i guess im mostly curious to see if anyone lives near the williamsburg/newport news area.

also, im a pad yang/chun player XD

Hey, and welcome. The scene in NN is pretty good right now, and they hold Ranbats (did the Melee scene have these?) every Wednesday. I’m sure they’d be cool if you asked to show up.

There’s at least 1 Chun and 1 Yang on that side of the water to the best of my knowledge. Just you know, stay open minded, and realize that there’s a good chance you might start off behind everyone else in terms of skill, but you can always improve and pull ahead with dedication and practice. Good luck.

Thanks mr snake

I see noobs pop up all the time in the smash scene and can feel their pain as they get used to playing with good players.
The smash scene in hampton roads has been somewhat inactive in the past couple years after the explosion of, and consequent crash of, brawl. Unfortunately, i wont be here for much longer cuz i have to go back to college come september. could u link me to info about the ranbats? ill try to make it this week; i might bring company.

it will be posted here when they hold them, also search facebook for “sova crack sessions”

it’s got a lot of posting in that facebook group.

Nice to see you converted as well.

Did any matches get recorded?

Also, is this the converter you were talking about: http://www.superufo.com/product_html/Xbox_1___360_PS2_PS3_to_xBox360_Controller_converter_PRO.html

I think Blackula recorded all of MK9 on his set-up. Other than that I don’t think so.

Anyone selling a 160GB PS3?

I didn’t record anything. I wasn’t able to. I needed component cables, and the TV I had with the RF Modulator only had composite outputs.

No none of my matches were recorded…I was running threw people like Diarrhea until RyRy took advantage of my lack of Assist 2 and Roundhouse. FUCK RYRY!!!

Just kidding, no hard feeling to who ever I played, GG’s

sweeeet tourny fellas. good to see everyone. congrats joe S and ry, stay nice.
who wants to go to richmond

I’m glad most of you enjoyed pools, but I’m never running pools again unless I decide to help out at a friend at a major. It was too much pressure and it didn’t help that I took a majority of the responsibility for running things during tournament time that day, didn’t ask for much help, and I started the day with car trouble and other drama. I was about ready to blow up on people for complaining or trolling, even the salty little kid I heard complaining about SF and the raffle. I was drained by about 5pm and just wanted to leave. Not my day.

I’m not sure. Blackula can answer that better than me. I was talking about whatever converter he has.

did you run a pool?

I personally know my pool was run by blackula, I saw Vince running a pool, it seemed like all the pools were run by someone in the actual pool? did you run your sf4 pool?

WAIT I GOT IT!!!

we should call you don brady!

The people in my Marvel pool ran it themselves, including me. Pools were a great idea… They were self sustained and seemed to run beautifully and quickly.

The only holdup I saw in the tournament was held up by the 3rd Strike Winners Finals and Grand Finals and Ryry not being able to play his Marvel match because of it. The marvel bracket stalled with 8 people… Meaning 7 people were waiting on Ryry’s match (Including me) which is why I was a bit salty. One tournament shouldn’t be held up for an hour+ cause of another tournament. You can’t be selfish and think about your one tournament, you have to think which course of action will make the entire “Event” run more efficiently. But this wasn’t a huge deal, I’m just saying this is the only thing I saw.

Also… People… Get the fuck up when someone asks you to for a tournament match when you’re playing casuals. Three times that happened to me personally during the tournament, and I saw it happening to others as well. And it’s not just nubs that are doing this… it’s people here on the forums who should know better, too.

Anytime you have a players like RyRy who is winning every single game you gonna get this though. It’s kinda unavoidable! I think everything ran smooth. How is it we get more complaints on this Tourney that ran great and ended like 9pm compared to other tourneys lol. Can’t ever make everyone happy I guess.

On another note RICHMOND TOURNEY! Who’s going? Lets get this 5 man Team together for Marvel and a 3 Man Team for 3SOE!!!

The tournament was great except for troy and don.

lol I’m sorry I ruined it for you Ryan…I’ll try not to be such a party pooper next time.

You 2 are taking my “running pools” statement too literally. I don’t mean actually sitting there and dictating the matches, I mean what comes with being the TO of a pools tournament: organizing/making fair pools, turning pool results into brackets, making sure people knew how to run their pool (There were a lot of questions and some problems that don’t all need to be brought to light), and making sure matches were getting done (Done well by pools themselves with little micro management as said but I still need to check) on top of everything else it takes just for a regular bracket event. The MK9 pool was the only one backed up according to my personal schedule, but the problem was solved.

Believe it or not it is easier and less to think about just putting a big bracket up and letting everyone go play what they see while yelling out matches. Just one 6 man round robin pool is 30 sets you have on your mind. If 1 pool gets backed up everything fails which I have seen happen. If a pool fails its not the fault of who you chose to run the pool, its the TOs fault. It’s too much extra to worry about for too little reward. Its not like pools speed anything up or I make $$$ to for the extra effort. It even makes doing results (which I don’t feel like doing now) a little harder. All I got out of pools was less play time resulting in me being really, really salty for losing to Troy and almost to Edwin while he played the wrong team when I feel I could have done a lot better. Also, there were 3 hosts, but Omega Synn was nothing more than a name as far as hosting goes so it’s really 2. If anything Troy and Blackula were other hosts though.

And going back and looking, MvC3 only had 9 bracket players to begin with. Everyone only needed to play literally 2 matches for a stall like that to happen. I know I definitely didn’t get an hour+ wait either. It was more like a 10 minute wait at best for me (maybe 20-25 for you). Either way, I announced the match, his opponent said he told him, and I went to play my matches and do other TO stuff. When I announced it he was playing SF3 and when I checked later after my matches he was just finishing his SF3 match. I think your match just played out quick (1 match) and you were eager for your next match or to leave so time seemed to stand still. A SF3 grand finals (no reset) set taking the time of 2 regular marvel sets sounds about right. I don’t think he played multiple matches and the bracket probably wasn’t up to date to show it was only GFs playing in SF3.

chicken nuggets are godlike.
