Itagaki wants the title deep down. It’s impossible for him be the best in Japan when the current champ is in the same gym. I can see Itagaki leaving in the future.

He’s not going to fight Ippo. We already had Nao do that and Miyata left the gym. It looks similar to the Okita and Date situation except they’re delving deeper into the psychology of it. Itagaki doesn’t think he can even beat Ippo anyways, but what’s the point of making him leave? It took a long time for Nao to come back and really it was only there to push Ippo’s mindset. Ippo isn’t prepared for fast fighters and it’s always been his “Achilles’ Heel”, since he basically lucks out every time again them. He basically has to either develop a tool for the match up or he has to develop one during a match up and if that match up is with Itagaki, Ippo’s fight with Miyata will never happen because it’ll be redundant as hell.
It’s safe to say that we’re in the stage where there are too many useless characters in matches we don’t care about. We could end this tomorrow by having Ippo and Miyata just fight it out and then we could just do a Sendo Gaiden and shut everyone up.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who hates Itagaki. I want him to lose. Itagaki is the only character I really hate in HNI.
