It wasn’t as bad as throwing lightning bolts out of your fist, or jumping off the ropes like a monkey. Had more to do with the issue of cheating in pro boxing anyway, so it also touched on a more important issue than “dawww some of us aren’t naturally talented.”
Miyata’s fight wouldn’t have been so bad if he lost. But you know, Japan is so great and all that…
Jumping off the ropes was ridiculous, but if Woli’s backstory gave him 5 or 6 more fights under his belt, would this match have been as frustrating? Woli is basically a more athletic Itagaki with a better coach.
And some parts of the RBJ fight were dumb, but overall it wasn’t terrible. Like a decent movie with a bad ending.
But Gedo was 20 chapters of a fight that should have taken maybe 2. Messages aside, it was just boring. Ippo’s winning strategy was what he should have been doing from the start of the first round-- rush that shit down and knock him the fuck out. As hard as Ippo punches, I don’t mind if he runs through a few opponents instead of everyone being some ridiculous challenge.
I would like for ippo to struggle with the results of being so strong in a match that he not only ends a match early but ends the fighting carrier of a challenger known for there strength [or looks like does until they comeback better than ever]. maybe against someone that his underling [Itagaki] can’t quite beat… just a thought.
