Yea I am plus it was totally different setup, Kojima pissed him off to bring out his full force, this time we got a dude whos ready to expire on his feet, fighting an Ippo who is at least three time as powerful as he has ever been, working himself up so much hes tripping over feet and finally snapped, punched a dude in the corner and now in the proceeds of tearing his ass apart. Wtf!
Po this bullshit is now on Woli level and if we dont get a definitive quick end in the next chapter, definately surpasses it in terms of some kinda bullshit.
These chapters are a goddamn tease and only makes Ippo look like pre-Date era in terms of skill. We get it Morikawa, Guevara got heart and doesn’t want to go to his trash heap home with his 73 siblings empty handed, but now it’s time for that heart to be ripped from his chest. No more frustrated Ippo who makes himself open for counters, we need:
Morikawa is already setting up “Ippo is out of control and lets Guevara back into the match” so we can drag this shit out another five or six chapters…
Goddamn, we should have had Sendo dying to Martinez to set up Ippo for the final battle at this point.
I think that dude’s coach is going to throw in the towel, and Ippo’s going to do a long exposition about how he wanted to do it this way, and Coach and Takamura are gonna be like “WHY ARE YOU SO STUPID”
Edit: We’ve seen it with the one-handed dude and the Final TAP. Boxing isn’t “supposed to be” about wildly punching your opponents to death.
Well this has turned into proper dog shit. Guess I can stick this manga on the same shelf as Berserk, the gee thanks for wasting over a decade of my life so go fuck yourself shelf.
He either turns into Shin Ippo or this manga is done. Especially with how many health issues the mangaka has. I can sorta feel like he wants to end it before he himself keels over.
Not even mad, 10 chapters beating up a lifeless dude who is knocking on his ass with trips and zero power counters, knocking down the same dude that has superhuman sense of balance but hey ho whatever. Probably 5 chapters of Ippo getting up, 10 chapters more to the end of the fight then a decent chapter of old man Neko telling Ippo to just commit suicide before going off and jerking off Wanpo.
Coach probably blames himself. Up until the Gonzalez fight, Ippo was basically getting by with tanking all the hits and learning to dodge rather than mitigate. They hadn’t had a REAL setback in terms of Ippo’s progress since Date, and even THEN you could chalk it up to “Date is a legend.”
But NOW, this is supposed to be a tune-up of sorts. A return for Ippo to the world stage. Now Coach is doubting himself. "Did I rush him back too fast? Have I taught him the wrong thing? Did I fail my “Final Son?!” And it doesn’t help that Ippo’s a goddamn moron in more ways than one.
I would say that he should listen to Coach, but you can argue that listening to Coach is what got him his CTE…
EDIT: And wasn’t Morikawa a corner guy? I remember early chapters where he talked about being a corner guy for a boxing match. I guess it would make sense that he would try and draw a line to keep Ippo from becoming DRAGONBALL Z: BOXING.
