They work hand in hand, because unless you have mental issues you have to get worked up into that state. This is bordering on splitting hairs, there were many times where Ippo had a justified cause to get angry, thus being ferocious- but nothing took hold.
The situations where Takamura and Sendo were taunted, annoyed, or challenged they got pissed and then became ferocious. Hell, they would even find reasons to get pissed even without being goaded. Ippo has only done this once. He survives mostly on sheer determination, but he rarely has any sakki behind it.
I highly doubt that in Ippo’s next match he will get unemotionally ferocious with nothing motivating him other than uncultivated pride.
Yeah but it has to come from somewhere, and right now Ippo is starting from scratch.
Lol Noted. But other than Takamura and the funky bunch, Morikawa hasn’t been using that narrative for his main protagonist. He has his work cut out for him to make it look convincing; but tbh, I wouldn’t even care if Ippo has a reverse Goku situation where a rock hits him in the dome and he turns feral.
True protagonist God of Time Itagaki will get Kumi to give up that ass first forcing Ippo to SSJ and killing off everybody in Kamogawa gym. Read it here first folks.
Ippo needs that focus rage like Takamura and Sendo. People don’t want wild consumed by rage sloppy Ippo. We want that hot precision destructive force. Sendo and Takamura do this. They get mad but when it matters, that rage is focused like a laser point. Ippo has power but he needs that fire like Sendo/Takamura.
Ippo has more than power, hes overall superior to Sendo in every way but the mental game, thats how he got his ass beat by Sendo not that long ago, thats why Alf gave him that L. Rage consumed Ippo would work out fine, any kinda fire lit under his ass would be fine. Lil dude been melancholic for maybe 5 years now IDGAF how it happens I just wanna see him get that green glint in his eyes once more.
Ippo lost against the best not for a lack of skill, but because he can’t up his intensity when needed. He’s mechanically solid, and tenacious as hell, but he doesn’t attack with the intent to win at all costs, and it “weakens” his punches.
His strength is his diligence and tenacity. How he moves in the ring is through constant and diligent hard work accrued over several years. Sure he’s kind and doesn’t act like your typical badass, but he’s strong physically and of heart.
Hell at least hes getting into game mode again, thats good at least. Kumi there with a big pole between her legs and Ippo still thinking about hitting dudes.
I would’ve figured Ippo has maxed out his physique entirely and needed to just improve his technique.
I really want Itagaki to mack on Kumi at this point. Kumi could probably lock Ippo in a room with a pile of Magnums and he’d be like, “Hey ya wanna make some balloon animals?!”
