This manga is something else. I was driving home with a honey some days ago and I got to a point where I thought outloud, “I need more Ippo dammit.” She thought it was some drug shit I was hiding from her. Winners don’t do drugs.
Also, the shriveling they did to Kimura is still kind of lame. How you gonna give him a cool ass sunday punch called DRAGONFISH BLOW, almost beat Mashiba, then revert him to jobber for the rest of his life after that? I understand having 4 out of 5 Kamogawa members be high tier would be anime as fuck but then don’t raise him up in the first place then. They don’t need to fight for the title to be interesting, Aoki finding himself in a title match worked because they explained how it literally fell on his lap due to #1-5 in the rankings dropping out. Having them chase the title their entire careers and not get close would have helped qualify how good Ippo and Fuckamura are. Aoki being the worst fighter out of the J.O.B. squad but technically getting the best shot at a title is funny on its own. “I wan’t you to call me sir if I win.” is high level shit I roast my homies with from time to time now.
