Man I don’t care that he lost, I don’t care about a rematch, I just don’t care.
All the side characters are better and have more interesting fights/stories, Ippo’s arc as a character is totally worthless and has been for like 600 chapters. Being world champ is a joke when everyone he knows has one, and when his cornerman is asssssssssssssssssssss.
Aside from the world 2th ranker getting sucked into playing the Ippo in-fighting game, I actually enjoyed this battle. Hope Ippo recovers and learns a true bob and weave style not that reckless charging that got him murked in the first place.
Ippo lost how he should. That resiliency is great but not being able really change tactics and fight smarter is basically what proved to be his downfall. Now its time for Kamogawa to really teach ippo a deeper level to boxing.
From a story-telling point of view, this is a golden opportunity for the story to take a new direction or go deeper or take up a new wind. Before a protagonist goes on a journey or evolves or is fleshed out, something goes wrong or right and a new story is unfold.
I’m not writing my thoughts properly but hopefully some of you may understand what I’m trying to say.
Guys, you don’t understand. This is much brilliant. Guys. He needs to learn that he can’t keep doing what he’s been doing. This is it. We’ve waited the whole manga for this.
