I was just wondering if the Ippo vs Woli fight ever gets animated, will it actually be badass or will it be dumb and stupid like in the manga. Sometimes seeing things in motion from manga form to anime form improves things. Just a thought I had.
He pulled himself off a flexible rope and changed direction in midair, then suddenly just couldnāt go on despite taking nothing but weak body blows and pure plot armor. There is no salvaging that entire OBPF run, the whole fucking arc was stupid.
The best bet would be to restructure the story to pretend it never happened, and just vacate the Japanese title to take on Alfredo straight up.
Agreed, or if they do another season just have it be mentioned and not shown or spend like 1 episode showing some cliff notes of his OBPF run.
Nigga Robinson is talking straight grade A bullshit. The woli fight was to highlight how Ippo was set in his rigid ways, no hint of flexibility with his fighting style, against an incredible opponent who would smite Miyata without a hesitation. Plot armor was definately there, on how his tekken technique destroyed Woli from the inside, but if not for that then wtf was the long Ippo and Couch background scene all about? I dunno why people hate on that fight, inside of being blind and stupid, actually think what the fight signifies especially when put in the context of what happened after it. Ippo at his core is badass, the most outragous of foes cant fuck with him (the OBPF arc), when he gets over his fear of being a bitch and acting out on what he actually is (80s top tier tyson with no rape or blackness going against him) then he will come out as the predominant fighter in his weightclass without no overarching Takamura comedic bullshit in the midst. Just purely badass. Any of you clowns read this manga?

I think a better way to do that fight, would of been to imply he had great athletic ability, but was a glass cannon

More ridiculous than the Gedo fight or Ippoās ability to eat punches, that would have most boxers slurring their words by age 23!
But the last fight and the current one have been excellent. Little to no gimmicks, and more focus on strategy and technique.

I can get be hind the great athletic ability angle. Maybe a precursor to why Ippo wasnāt aloud to spar with Itagaki. Walli should have been a badass version of itagaki with no practical training but crazy natural talent. Maybe even mix in some of Bryan Hawkās unorthodox style and have his coach imply he watched his tapes. Take the monkey see monkey do to another level.
Also, I would like to see Geromichi (hammer nao) return in the light weight (or jr light) division.

Sawamura only lost because he was dicking with Ippo for 90% of the match. If Sawamura was gunning for the kill the second he landed the first counter he would have been champ.
In terms of brutality then his entire OPBF run because it not only hurts Ippo, but it hurts the readers as well.

Forgot how much the conclusion to Sawamura fight pisses me off, should have lost the first then came in for a runback
It pissed me off less than the usual plot armor because A) already established that Sawamura refuses to KO his opponents in favor of toying with them, and B) heels need that good ass whuppin comeuppance.
