Fighting Spirit perfectly captures the essence of the entire series. “The First Step” would’ve made sense if the show/manga didn’t go on past Ippo’s first few fights.
it was called Knockout when it was showed in the Philippines.
The official countdown to the new season starts…now!
Five days remaining…
Using Hajime no Ippo logic, since Randy is seemingly the underdog in this fight, he’ll win.
I really hope so.
actually miyata is the underdog.
I dunno, getting beat on the whole match makes Randy the underdog.
Course this chapter turns that around.
NOOO RANDY
no. miyata is the underdog because rbj is his worst possible matchup. that’s been said several times before. miyata looked good in the first rounds but now the table is turning and he is about to go through hell like predicted.
Doesn’t change the fact that the first few rounds, Miyata was shown to have the upper hand.
He lost it and is now the underdog. It’s not the underdog pre-match that matters, it’s the underdog during match (see Ippo vs GloveExtensionManWhoseNameIForget).
…but Miyata now is the underdog, yes.
 Go Randy.
EDIT: On a related note, I like how fast paced this match currently is, compared to GloveExtension or Jimmy Sisfa. Hope it keeps the pace.
like i said. in the end miyata was always the underdog.
his name was gedo btw.
Can’t wait till the anime is back!
Boxing 101 … woot!
exactly. the whole point of this fight is supposed to be an ending of sorts to a a giant saga. this is miyata’s way of proving his fathers style works as well as placing him in a world situation to announce his entry into the world of boxing. He’s an underdog in two big ways because of his fathers style and not because of his own skill.
honestly i’m surprised he hasn’t developed some technique unique to just him. in the way ippo has gazelle/dempsey roll and sendo has the smash. I dont see anything unique about miyata except his style is his father on acid.
Jolt Counter…?
JOLT is something not even his father could do but that’s the only unique technique about him. miyata is a textbook fighter through and through. takamura put it well in words. it’s good to have a good technique but what’s written in a book can be read by another, too. so in a way miyatas style is predictable as a clockwork. the whole reson for this fight is to let him evolve in an more unpredictable fighter using his counter style and mixing it with his own. uppercuts are going to be the key to success in this. my prediction is going to be a JOLT UPPER! anyway.
That also from this father. When they were training in Thailand against Jimmy S, the dad mention how the son come to the same conclusion as he did when he was younger, the jolt counter.
Top Five Matches in the manga so far?
I’d say Takamura vs Hawk, Takamura vs Eagle, Vorg vs Sendo, Mashiba vs Sawamura and Ippo vs Sendo.
Anyone know the the chapters where Takamura starts to fight Hawk, wanna reread it.
sendo vs. ippo II, takamura vs. hawk, sawamura vs. mashiba, ippo vs. sawamura, itagaki vs imai
Hajime no Sendo was pretty awesome.
ippo vs sendo 2 was the best.
yeah. i don’t think there will ever be a fight quite as awesome as lallapalooza.
btw some really good amv’s to get more hyped up :woot:

Takamura vs. Hawk is one of my favourite matches, as well as the events leading up to the match.
I also like Martinez vs. Date. My only problem with that match was they skipped a few rounds.
Four more days…
