lololol I bet you after he finished reading Miyata-RBJ he will change his mind. And if he is still reading after that, he will probably give up during Woli-Ippo. I canāt imagine reading those fights after having read all of the manga at once at the time for the first time. Iād probably just quit it, at least for a few months, somewhere during the RBJ fight.

I think most people donāt want to stand and trade with Ippo. Ippoās base power is just scary as hell.

Takamura is like 8 weight classes higher or something. Ippo walks around at 125 or so, he doesnāt even really cut. Takamura walks around at about 225 minimum. Thatās 100 lbs of weight and like a foot taller with probably even more than that in reach advantage. Takaās stray jabs would probably put Ippo down for the count.
Takamura is also ranked #1 P4P and probably always will be. And heās supposed to be really far ahead of the next guy as well. Taka wonāt have a real challenge until he gets to HW and faces someone bigger than him. At cruiser itād probably be just actually competitive.
I would love it if he countered Ippo just like he planned, but Ippo isnāt even phased and knocks him out. They mentioned a one-hit KO, so maybe it will happen.
A middle weight would destroy a featherweight let alone a light heavyweight.
I would like to see Ippo one hit KD him, then tenderize him for most of the 1st round (not letting him tko or kd), and tries to prolong the match getting on that Gohan vs Cell type rage. Coach convinces him to end it early in round 2.
we get some reactions during and between the rounds but most is commentary on rare footage of ippo angry. The challenger doesnāt think this will go on past the 2nd roundā¦ and still thinks he will win.
As Ippo readies for the final blow this guy manages his perfect Ippo counter only to dual exchange for a double KD. A shocked Ippo gets up 2nd as a few words are shared by the challenger before Satsui no Ippo goes Oniā¦ and charges in for blood.
Fight gets real half way into the 2nd roundā¦ and we gotta wait for the next issue titled āred ring of deathā
Maybe Morikawa really did finally learn some boxing. I have been bitching about Ippoās shitty boxing for years now, and I have explicitly mentioned his non-existent guard and inability to parry or one shot KO anybody.

I think thatās as much a matter of Ippoās shitty boxing, as it is a theme Iāve seen in Shounen manga. The main character in a lot of these have tons of natural, God-given talent, but they have absolutely no clue how to bring it out. The entire, over-arching theme is this person learning how to bring out that talent and potential, and so every fightās got to be a struggle, with the central character learning something at the end of each fight. The main character is likeable, perhaps a Mary-Sue. In general, theyāre a bit of a moron. In a lot of ways, Ippo shares many qualities with Luffy, Ichigo, and Naruto (AAAAAAAH D:).
Thatās why Iām hoping against hope that Morikawa does away with the āWOW I SUCK AT THIS BUT WITH SPIRIT AND GUTS I CAN OVERCOME ANYTHINGā theme and just lets Ippo go buckwild.
