I agree with that but the problem is that when they DO have the match up experience against Guy, then you’re kind of at a lost as to what to do. I’ve faced up against shotos (which I think is one of the harder match ups for Guy) and they just completely shut me down and I’m not even so sure they even have the match up knowledge. Also, match up experience isn’t something that you can rely on all the time, eventually, they’ll figure it out or if you play long sets against them, they know your set ups, your frame traps, punishables, etc. And if they’re ever really in trouble, they can mash out with DP and Guy usually loses to it (yes, I know Guy can bait it out but even when you play smart, they can do it every once in a while to threaten that they are willing to do it making it so that you stop pressuring so that you can’t really play Guy as effectively). Although with that said, watching Doug, from Starbase Arcade, play inspired me to play Guy (I liked the character concept anyway) and he’s infamous for his Guy there and he still manages to continue to play competitively against some of the top NorCal players. Still though, since he’s been playing there for so long against the same people, people like Harrison (Cody) and Hoodaman (Honda) seems to shut him down.
I played against an Abel yesterday and does he have a weird hit box? My normal 50/50 set up into Bushin combo didn’t work at all. I would do forward throw, double jump forward, Elbow Drop, hit confirm from cr. LP, cr. LP, Bushin combo but only the st. LP of the Bushin combo will connect and the st. MP will whiff. Is this normal? I mean I know my execution is ass but I don’t think it’s THAT bad. And if Abel’s hit box is weird, is there anyone else that this happens to or is it specific to him?
Nope that tends to happen on him, which is why you should try to confirm on one lp rather than two in certain situations.
I would avoid trying to do the standing chain on Abel. His hitbox is such that his arms are deceiving and the actual hittable box is nearer to his chest. St chaing does whiff quite often unless it’s close.
Does anybody have a list of the characters guy can land a Ultra 1 on the corner after Target combo > LP hozanto WITHOUT FADC?
I remember there was a list somewhere but I cannot find it.
I am making a video on the matter and need that info.
Thanks boys.
From my memory, Cammy, Sagat, Rog, Deejay, gouken, Gief, Hawk , Abel
I would try viper chun gouki Dudley and hakan
I know man thanks but I am sure there was a complete list somewhere.
Abel does not hit I think, and you can add to your list Cody, Fei Long, Adon, Honda, Guile, Dhalsim, Claw, C. Viper, Guy, Chun, Hakan, Seth.
Gouki and Dudley don’t hit either. I just needed to test but I’m lazy.
Oh it works on Adon hmm :3, Wish I had seen this earlier I was just in training mode.
hi guys… yesterday I was playing agains a decent Guile… and almost EVERYTIME i did a Bushin Flip for pressure, I got grabbed… I know Guile’s grab timing is kind of tricky in certain situations,(since I play some Guile) but that was totally ridiculous…
Please anybody tell me I was dong it wrong, or some day my stick is going to get broken by my forehead… he doesnt deserve it
Blooddrunk, Pedro… the list for low hozanto into ultra without FADC is in the Character specific stuff thread
Also… Nebbiez, If you get to read this, I wonder if I can add you for some matches? I need mirror experience… If you don’t mind of course…
I almost forget this… I’m new to the game… I just got my xbox on march actually… so I’d like to know frame data for backdashes, I think I’ve heard they have invincibility frames on start up, but I was wondering… since the 1st frame?
Now I know jumping takes 4 frames till you actually jump, but I’m curious for the framedata of backdashes and crouching (e.g) basically for exploring safejumps settings… If anyone knows something that’d be appreciated…
Pedro already made the video for setups on practically the entire cast.
Guy can get throw out of his Bushin flip if its before you can press a button but the timing for that out of TC > Bushinflip is very strict.
1-8 frame is the most that I remember for backdashes is your invul. After that you can get hit, try not to backdash too much, cause OS will frustrate you and kill you. But in a safe jump, you can safe jump 4+ frame reversals, You have to empty jump for that cause you’ll get it if you try to do an actual safe jump. Most of the things you are asking for are in the Tutorial guide that you’ll need to know and spread about youtube as well.
oh… I know wake up backdashing, OS and stuff… I was more intersted in crouching data cause some chars safe jumps come adding a crouch before the jump… so one can get timings and such…
I’ve only watched the youtube tutorial by VesperArcade… and now that you mention it, yes, it must be there… I’ll check…
Thanks
Most of guys safejumps are pretty straightforward and be timed with normals outside of the RSL safe jump which is basic.
Sure thing man! Send me a message on Xbox Live and I’ll add you tonight.
Just went into training mode even though you made the video, Akuma hits from TC LP hoz meterless.
Damn stupid me…also Sakura works naked too. but the resets not so much. there is a guy who posted a response video about it. It is on the comments of my video
I saw a comment on an earlier thread that Low Hozanto into ultra 1, with the right spacing, works on every one. I also tested this a little over a year ago and if I remember correctly, this does work on the whole cast.
Can U2 punish moves that are -1?
Yes as long as they are in range and its a reversal ultra
I was going to ask something about this. It seems like that there are certain characters, Guy being one, that the Run-Slide, nj. HP/MK does not work on at all? I know that the safe jump setup doesn’t work at all on Sagat, Cammy, and Blanka, but there seems to be other characters where it wouldn’t necessarily work UNLESS they hold back to block on wake up, otherwise, the safe jump will whiff completely and if they wake up throw, it will actually blow up the safe jump (since it whiffed and is recovering). I was wondering if this happens to any of you who are more experienced than I and if so, what do you guys do instead?
If you’re whiffing this too often, use nj.lp, it’s easier to time and I think it has more active frames so it works better on Guy - but obviously has much less block stun.
It’s unlikely that ur opponent will not block or hold back at all, especially charge characters.
