Hi people im a pretty decent Guy player (4400pp and 16000bp) but I cant seem to be able to pull off a certain type of option select. I cant do those jab, jab+ex hozento option select. The ex hozento always comes out even tho I do what I think is the right motion. Let me know what is wrong with my inputs, I do: cr jab, 2142 jab+mp ,thank you for your help.
thats how you should do it, but its hard to explain, youd have to buffer the motion and then let the stick go back to neutral and then do d lp/mp its a quick motion.
Thanks I got it first try, even tho I knew I had to go back to neutral I wasn’t doing it haha and thats the key thank you.
Does this works agains elf , rose and chun li’s back dash ? any other use for the ex hozento OS ?
Now how do you do the same OS but with Fierce Hozento ? Same thing but I have to plink the second jab with fierce ?
The best way to explain how to do that OS is
Cr.Jab -> QCB -> (Press HP just after the cancelling window of cr.jab) -> Cr.LK/LP
I never used plinking , but noticed that the window for cancelling into chain normals is more than cancelling into specials…which is why this is even possible…
You always press them at the same time, the easiest OS is U1 in my opinion from cr lp
I didn’t get that one, you guys gave me 2 different answers. If I press them at the same time the ex will come out but I want the fierce one.
So I taught I had to do jab , qcb, neutral, down + HP then jab, no ?
I have an other question: why or how do I get 2 hits with the run overhead when people do the focus ?
You need to be close so that you can hit with the ass part of the move … but be careful coz some FA animations move the character back in which case it might whiff and needs to be done lil later…
Also the move is horribly unsafe if they block it close…
Oh use lk then, I think that should work better, But the only use i see for HP hozanto is in teleports and I think MP hozanto or EX may catch a few of those. I barely fight characters with a teleport and tend to use Run Slide more than Hozanto.
Thanks guys, Its helping a lot. Can someone confirm that I can hit every focus attack twice if I wait at last second ? Im facing a lot of those lately.
Use Hozanto, it armor breaks and there is less risk of you getting hit, EX Hozanto is the obvious choice since its fast and when cancelled from St mp or cr mp its has a high success rate on beating the focus as well as catching the backdash depending on the distance. Cr HK/Runslide can avoid some characters focus attacks. Run Overhead tends to be a risk since they can easily react to it since it has a slow start up.
Been slacking lately because I was hoping for 2012 on PC to be out already but apparently capcom kept their word and decided to release it on 28th -_-
Played a lot yesterday and lost ~ 600PP total (200 from disconnects which I am sure was not from my end) few weeks of not playing really hurt my execution resulted in eating a LOT of reversals T_T the worst part was that I ended up losing to this ryu scrub who mashed fireball ultra during my cr.LK st.MP st.HP string and it worked because my TC whiffed after just one light attack…, Thank you very much capcom
Any advice on Boxer matchup?I don’t have much experience on this MU and I had a hard time applying pressure on this Boxer who mashed tech a LOT which somehow seemed to hit me after my cr.LP > cr.LP > st.MP > runstop and my cr.LP > cr.HP frametrap got stuffed as well He pretty much just sat on his fucking pussy the whole match and chipped me away slowly with his dash punch which I couldn’t punish. Is all his move really that safe or is it just online lag? I could only punish his headbutts and that overhead punch thing which didn’t matter much because he was turtling HARDCORE.(yes I’m salty :))
Cant post the matches since its not on latest replay list anymore btw.
cr.LP or cr.LK > st.MP is not a true block string. On hit it is a 1 frame link, otherwise you will get caught by reversal mashers all day. A smart Balrog player should play lame against Guy. You should avoid running at him, and run/stop isn’t much use because you will find yourself getting caught with dash punches all day. Don’t jump too much either. When you’re not in there applying pressure, hang back and wait for him to do any dash punches and stuff it with MK bushin kicks (or ultra 1 if you have it available). After a knockdown go for a delayed crossup jump. I have found that the angle of Guy’s jump arc means you will avoid headbutts and catch his cr.HP antiair if you get the spacing right. The most important thing is to try and play safely. Don’t go for non-solid block strings or you will eat cr.LPs and reversal headbutts all day.
This matchup feels like it’s got better for Guy is every iteration of the game since Super first came out, but I think I would still call it 6/4 to Balrog.
Use cr.mk on his wake up to beat ex dashes, use empty jump throws, if u delay jump ins on his wake up, he can do ex dash and may hit you.
This is still a tough match if the Balrog player knows how to play against Guy.
Thanks a bunch for that! cr.MK works damn well and yeah the balrog definitely knows the MU since he deals with my bushinf flip/run overhead shenanigans really well.
I’m having trouble applying pressure once I score a knock down. I’m at a loss to do once I knock an opponent off their feet.
^ Generally teach your opponent not to mash by baiting him with Run Stop, using Elbow Drop to control air space and using Bushing Flip to bait as well. Once you teach your opponent to block or to be defensive, then apply pressure to him by doing Jump-ins, Cross-ups and Meaty hits on wake. ‘Remember Guy is a teacher’. Once you trained your opponent not to do something, then go in for the kill. Overall, push your opponent in the corner to earn extra damage against him. ‘I guess that’s why Guy gets on Ibuki in the opening trailer, cause shes young and antsy, while Guy is older and patient’.
A guy on my friend’s list is a Seth main and asked me a question. He said a buddy of his kept throwing him when he do an empty jump-in, buffer command grab when he lands. I was curious so I tested it. The results was yes, you can input a Normal Throw to beat Seth’s command grab, though the window is tight. I tested this on other grapplers and I got the same results. I recorded, empty jump-ins and forward dash buffered into command grab and got normal grab to work. He also metioned Seth’s command grab has a 1 frame start-up. Are these testings and results correct?
