ok so then all your runstop strings can be punished by anything if you keep getting ochiod out of it.
you need to slow down sometimes and mix it up some times.
if hes just mashing ochios, it should be fairly easy to bait it.

Cheers for your response on those Option Selects Acidic! [runs off to the hyperbolic chamber…]
Man oh man. Maybe it’s b/c I used to play a HARDCORE turtle Gouken in Vanilla, but in this version with Guy, I just wanna GO GO GO and FIGHT. I’ve identified that weakness and am addressing it now.
On another note, has anyone had any success using EX Kaiten Izuna Otoshi on wakeup vs. dive kick spamming Rufus AND/OR Cammy players? Brunaleski mentioned it to me a while back, but I haven’t had a chance to test it out offline…
Boxer is a pretty tough match up for me, but can EX dash work on jabs?
no very unsafe Just don’t try to be so aggresive against Balrog. It’s one of those match up where you have to be patient.
To approach Rog is a bit of a patience game, but honestly your best tools to get in is, Cr hk, cr mk and st Hp.
Cr HK will tag all of Rogs Non EX Rush punches and you’ll score a hit/KD depending on spacing. And it will help you close the distance in safely. Don’t abuse it though cause Rog can easily Rush punch as you recover but you may have time to block or not.
Cr mk. will do the same as Crouch mk but will nullify his EX rush punches. It will also have you completely avoid getting hit by Wake up headbutt just learn the timing of when to do it, even so Rog can’t FADC either so if you have the life you can just simply block it and punish afterwards.
ST hp, A great poke to use in footsies against Rog cause you can tag a lot of his whiffed normals and timed probably beat his Non EX rush punches not sure about TAP
When it comes to TAP just try your best to avoid getting hit by it. Not many Rogs will go for it and properly timed cr mk or hk (Unsure) can have you completely miss it. Definitely try to score a knockdown and crossing up Rog
Rog won’t jump a lot of times on you aside from getting a knockdown but AA differs from whatever normal he uses so I honestly suggest going into Training and find out which one has the best results. I’ve had mixed results with cr mk and cr mp myself.
Also… try not to backdash on wake up against Rog… I assure you Most and if not all generally OS a dash punch to catch it. Unless they have an incredible reaction time.
st.mp/cr.mp buffer ex tatsu, it’s awesome against ex dash punches.
I have 2 big problems vs akuma:
-Akuma’s 2 hit hk is a frametrap for an akuma’s cr.mk xx hadouken. I don’t know how to get away from that other than block the cr.mk and mk tatsu the hadouken (only if i was at the tip of the cr.mk range).
Fear of this frametrap makes me block if i can’t cr.mk his initial 2hit hk, and then i’m screwed…
-And i need something as an answer to close up divekicks, because up close i don’t know what to do except slide under with my cr.hk, but if he divekick and recover fast he can punish my slide.
If i ex-tatsu a divekick that is avobe me (not in front of me) a lot of times i fail, or i only hit him with the final hit (because akuma freezes in the air). If i don’t ex-tatsu, i’m in risk of a mixup.
I’m not even talking about akuma’s vortex, my problem is after a blockstring he cancels one of his normals with a lk divekick just avobe me…
In both cases i don’t know what to do vs akuma other than stay passive, and that is killing me
Can anyone help a noob like me, please?
If he does the cr.mk hadouken at the range where you can mk tatsu, you can also do a focus, dash in and full bushin combo instead for more damage.
ST hk isnt really a frametrap on block its even, so you can stick out a cr lk to possibly CH him since cr mk for akuma is 5 frames. and do whatever or maybe even lk tatsu will work.
How about EX instant Izuna? To be fair I haven’t tried it but my guess is it should be viable. Can anyone confirm?
against akuma doing 2 hit st. rh > cr. forward xx fireball… it’s not a great option… but it’s another option at least… you can backdash after blocking the st. rh, causing the cr. forward to whiff. like some one else stated you can focus absorb the fireball if they do an improperly spaced cr. forward xx fireball, then dash forward and either U2 or ff chain into whatever followup option(hurricane, ex shoulder, U1 depending on how close to the corner you are). just be aware that akuma can always EX fireball or red fireball to ruin your focus absorb attempt. so it’s a complete guessing game when it comes to focus absorbing the fireball.
as for akuma canceling normals into his demon flip divekick… you can jump back fierce, nj. rh for a knockdown and the opportunity to juggle them with EX shoulder(i think you can also juggle with run slide instead for an untechable knockdown, but don’t quote me on that).
just remember to mix up your options. that’s why i suggested backdashing after blocking 2 hit rh. it’s not a great option as you lose ground… but it keeps you unpredictable. mix that up with what you’ve been doing with forward hurricane through the fireball and focus absorbing the fireball and dashing with whatever punishment option you want.
@ MADma3str0
I’m pretty sure that i’ve been hit out of the backdash after akuma’s hk with his c.mk.
But I took what you told me and did a couple of researches in training mode. Seems like that stuff is very space dependant.
-If akuma’s 2 hit hk hits “deep”, i can’t backdash or jump his c.mk xx fireball, but seems like i can grab him or c.lp trade with him
-If akuma’s 2 hit hk hits at his good range, i can’t do shit other than backdash the c.mk. All other options are stuffed because c.mk xx fireball will be a true blockstring.
-If akuma’s 2 hit hk hits at the tip of his range, i can backdash the c.mk, or i can block his c.mk and mk.tatsu or focus the fireball, but i grab or c.lp him (out of range on both options, c.lp get’s stuffed by c.mk because of range, and both would count as a counterhit for him).
The problem is, again, that the akuma’s i’ve been fighting know that i can’t be offensive if i block akuma’s hk at his good range… …so they can repeat the hk and hit me out of backdash, or they can mix up stuff like walk forward and throw, c.lp xx demon flip stuff, and so on.
His offense seems to have no end
Anyway, **thanks **for the focus and backdash tip. (In my initial tests they were stuffed so i stopped trying and that was my problem).
Too much space dependant stuff i see here.
Not at all reliable but I’m sure someone said you can focus the first hit of sthk and dash forward under the second hit.
Probably not much use but I’m sure I saw it posted somewhere.
I gues it’s gonna be a guessing game with the crmk follow up, if he keeps doing it just ex tatsu, or maybe try to focus the crmk and release before the fireball comes out?
Yeah… his far st hk has 8 frames of start up… you can easily stick out a cr lk or mk/mp if you think he’s going for another st hk. Guy’s st lk is 4 frames and has some good range on it. So use that instead of a cr lp. And if they space the hk badly and crmk xx hadouken isnt a true blockstring… can always Armour Cancel U1.
I was playing with Guy a few days ago, and when I was messing with him in training mode, I got Kara U2. I was trying to prove to myself that specials don’t have to have armour in order to cancel into Ultra in 1st frame, and when I successfully did EX Hozanto kara U2, I’m pretty sure I grabbed the dummy at the point where I shouldn’t have grabbed. Does anyone have more information about this? I cannot test it again until the next weekend.
Forgive me if the question has been answered already, but 44 pages is a lot of Guy material to go through. I was hoping for an answer to the question of how the target combo throw>jab>crossunder reset works. I can’t seem to get it.
after you perform ff chain throw and hit jab for the reset… immediately after the cr. jab recovers dash forward and you’ll stay in front of the opponent… if you delay the dash very slightly after the cr. jab you’ll end up behind them. sounds weird i know but that’s just how it works.
If you Dash when they are rolling in the air (during the reset )… you go under them… i dunno i this is 100% true …but it always works for me…Dashing anytime before or after that puts you in front…
Hey guys do you wait a brief second after run slide to execute his safe jump. When I hold up…it always whiffs or if I wait, it hits but it’s not safe (i still get dp’d).
Is an OS ex tatsu aftert safe jump work against DPs and flash kicks?
Sorry for the noob question
