The Guy Q&A Thread: Post your questions here!

Guy isnt really like any of the Shotos…the only one i would say is even remotely close is akuma just because of the sole fact that akuma has good mixups and Guy has good mixups…other than that, i wouldnt approach them the same way at all…ever…

Indeed…You are right…Guess i was asking…In terms of rushdown style which shoto is the best at it…

K1, cl. st. mp has alot of advantage after run stop, i checked it out and it gives 20 frames of block stun. even st. hp only gives 17 (in the TC), give it a try

like liluoke said… cl. strong has a shit ton of block stun. you’ll actually see kiryu use it alot if he gets that close. not to mention cl. strong can link to far st. strong. it’s a weird link… but a great CH setup i’ve been using lately. you can also link things like cl. strong > cr. short > st. strong xx run slide/EX shoulder. i hope some accurate frame data shows up soon though. i’d really like some reliable frame data to go off of.

good to know about the cl.st.mp

I’m pretty sure we covered this in the Run/Stop thread if not add it in

okay two questions:

  1. Does EX Bushin have throw invincibility on startup ?

  2. On what frame is EX Bushin flip considered airborne ?

the reason i ask is because i was playing against a Hakan and i did an EX Flip on wakeup. I went right through his 360 + P grab and was able to land the bushin throw for free. did he just time it slightly wrong ? i know its not that he timed it horribly…hes a pretty damn good player. anyways, thanks guys. was just thinking if it IS throw invincible, then it could be a helpful way to get out of geifs vortex.

I analyzed the video and noticed that ex run came out instead of ex spin kick.:lame:

Anyway thanks Guy forums.

Thanks for the reply the lk tatsu info is especially helpful

And i had a look at the run stop thread that was made on here and frame data and im convinced cl st.mp puts you at positive frames, +1 or 2 i believe

As far as I know it is airborne on the first frame and yes it has throw invincibility

sooo why hasnt anyone mentioned to use it to get out of grapplers vortex’s ? this could really turn the tides in certain matches. we get a free 200 dmg + untech knockdown to give us some space. im going to put this to use immediately…

on the same topic of EX Bushin, does anyone know if vipers burn kicks are projectile only hitboxes ? or do they have physical hitboxes too…because if theyre only projectile we can use EX Bushin to go through them…not to mention MK tatsu would beat them out 100 % of the time

Now the matches against Zangief and Hawk will be easier.

K1 to answer your question

Her LK MK HK all have green hitboxes. Her EX DOES have one but the initial hits are with her body before the kick which are Red, So in theory I suggest someone test this, MK Tatsu and EX Bushin Flip should evade, Tatsu would be the better idea.

Also the last hit of her super is a green hitbox :3

well now knowing that EX Bushin has throw invincibility, i think that changes quite a few things in some matchups.

I thought it was common knowledge amongst us Guy players. I figured it out the first day I mained Guy.

By grappler’s vortex, you mean the crossover > crossover > command throw shenanigans? Is ex bushin flip fast enough to punish that?

Just trying to clarify.

yessir, check the last page of the character matchup thread. ive been going over stuff regarding it there.

Thanks K1!

whats the best way to insure his flip throw comes out instead of elbow drop?

umm…push punch right next to them ? idk ?

personally i negative edge the throw…it just feels more natural for me
