Scissor Kicks?

What am I supposed to do again?

I played a long set against a Dictator Player and he regressed his game to scissor kicks from crouching block. Naturally a jump had me aa. And I could approach him because nothing beat scissor kick at distance and academically positive on block. It doesn’t seem to hit low or be a mid range attack and isn’t off the ground so no BSK helps other than ex. And how many bars will you really get when he’s turtling you like that?

St.mk, st.mp, cr.mk, cr.mp st.lp, st.lk, use normals to contend with scissors kicks and learn his patterns and timing of when he was going to SK, then factor in when you should press any of those buttons, even if you trade it disrupts the flow he has. Also learn the distance he going to scissor and which one he is going for, lk scissors are -1 on block unless done meaty, MK and HK can all be punished by st.mp as they are -5 and -7. If he does LK SK two hits, waits and does another LK and it normallys hits once, Focus attack, absorb the first hit and release (id advise back dashing cause if you didn’t get level 2 you’ll have room to breathe) this will prompt him to have to switch up his SKs on the fly because he’ll be aware of you using Focus and may even prompt him to do Psycho crushers, which Guy can punish those with and without meter depending on the spacing, and you can punish with Ultra 1 depending on where you blocked it.

Someone tell me if I’m going crazy but wasn’t cr.mp, cr.mp, mp xx run slide doable before ultra or was it a counterhit thing?
Also wasn’t cr.mp, mp a 2 frame link not a 1 frame?

Maybe I am going crazy

counter hit and cr.mp into st.mp is 1 frame, unless you hit the cr.mp meaty to go into a 2nd cr.mp or st.mp

How do you Guys feel about W Ultra? I feel like it’s bad in that if you get a Bushin Chain > Ultra in the corner it does significantly less damage but it’s good in that it’ll scare people into not doing silly unsafe things for fear of a U2 punish. I’ll probably use it because the utility is great IMO I’m just wondering how more experienced Guy players feel about it.

Also does Guy get 75% damage or 60% damage on his W Ultra?

75% and I don’t use it, I’m exclusive to one ultra in every matchup.

I use W. I do appreciate the anonymity and options. I’ve not found myself wanting that 25% damage in any capacity either, but that could just be a play style thing. I still use singular Ultra from time to time and I play for it and that’s when the 25% extra comes in handy.

How do you do armor run cancel ultra?

QCF + KK, QCF + KKK

The second part of the input has to be done really fast. This causes the ultra to come out as soon as your armor is hit. Unless you have godlike execution, it’s extremely difficult to nail it consistently.

Or you can do qcf x2 kk ~kkk

I went for this in a match against a Cody. I thought it was gonna be the most badass V I ever got. But the guy was using EX.Zonk and I underestimated how long that thing has invincibility. HE outlast my U1 ultra and still bopped me. After the match the cody play messaged me to say how much he was wetting himself when he saw my Ultra.

EX Zonk has 16 frames of Startup and is invincible until active.

I know that… Now.

On what characters can’t you combo with a c.lk after a 2 hit run overhead?

Ok, so for those who care:

run overhead, c.lk works on:
1: c.lk, TC
2: c.lk, c.lp, s.mp
3. c.lk, s.mp

Works on a good number of folks, believe it works on makoto as well.

How would u practice that in train mode?
Is the best way to let cpu do some fireballs and u try to armorcancel it into ultra? or is there a better way to see if ure consistent?

It’s easier if you go back to neutral before pressing KK to do the ex run.

ye just tried it out
works pretty well (at least in train mode) with 2xQCF, kk~kkk

Yeah, that’s probably even better.

Qcf, qcf, n, kk~kkk

I was thinking qcf,n+kk, qcf+kkk
