yea actually I never thought of situations like anti-air normals canceling into special-dash-cancel which allows you to move forward while they are popped in the air so perhaps there’s something like AA st.mp > SB-dash-cancel > continue juggle…
Something I just thought of though maybe this is useless… I guess you can use EX SB dash-cancel as a sort of FADC bait?
Say your opponent is… Zangief… trying to punish an unsafe blocked chain like c.lp, c.mp, st.hp (this is unsafe on block right…?) with an SPD… you could do the chain but end it in EX SB dash-cancel back to make it safe and if he happened to mash out an SPD it would whiff…? or am I on crack
Hey guys, I just bought the game and look forward to working on my Guile. For those who have been playing for a little while longer: what are some solid secondary options? I have seen some successful play with Guile/Rolento, but are there other quality characters to compliment his strengths? I was thinking Juri or Bison. Eh?
of those, i’d say juri is the strongest. i was using her in training and i couldn’t believe the shit she can do in this game. she can zone, she can rush down, does good damage, has teleport…and now she has a super jump after cr.hp lol.
i’m still looking for my partner to guile. i like rolento but i feel like i should learn one of the tekken characters.
rolento’s problem is that you can easily alpha counter all three hits of his rekkas. this makes him go from really strong to not as scary very quickly.
Got this game a few minutes ago and like some ppl have already said and I am still kinda surprised how easy Guile’s 1 frame cr.LP into cr.MP is.
The online on PSN does have sound problems though or is it just me?
Guile is the same as in the sf4 series. the only difference is his LP boom has the startup of sf4 HP boom and no FADC FK, but who needs FADC now that he can roll away.
And his 1 frame cr.LP into cr.MP better be easy to do now because cr.LP is +8 on hit, meaning you have 3 FRAMES to combo into cr.MP
Pretty much if you had a good Guile in AE, you should be fine in sfxt using Guile.
He works well with Kazuya, too.
heihachi and guile go quite nicely together imo (for anyone who’s interested in running a tekken partner).
kazuya is going to be a bad match for guile imo.
I’m maining that exact team. Guile on point for like 75% of the match, then I tag in Kaz to finish people off (cross rush etc)
I need to switch the order around though, because I haven’t fully got to grips with Kaz in this version. And I’ve got to really sink some time into the gem system (which I LOVE btw); I originally thought power gems would benefit Guile but I tried an offense build and it didn’t matter too much (I’d rather just cross rush and get Kaz to do the damage instead). Truth be told I’d rather have extra life and cross gauge, so I think I will be running those gems with Guile.
I do the same thing
I’m using 40% Meter Gain and 10% damage on Tag-In with Kazuya, it’s amazing. Just keep Guile on point until you get meter and blow people up with an easy tag-in after you’ve widdled them down with Guile. Guile’s such a great character in this game!
guile feels like the strongest zoner in this game to me. runnin guile/paul with exceptional success.
having +10% damage +40% meter for paul on tag and for guile +20% meter for both 3 blocked attack and 3 hit specials. the best gem (mathematical wise) +100 damage cut after 5+ hit combo for both. having a 2nd shield gem (4 normals) on my second set for rushdown heavy characters.
chained c.mk~s.hp is such a godlike hit confirmable poke into cross rush. how is the frame data for chain far s.hp tho?is there frame data list floating around? any paul’s smasher when tagged into afterwards or after a flashkick switch cancel gives so much distances since smasher hurls them so far away. loving the team… team “Hair denies Gravity”.
i think he’s good now because the game is new. but i gotta say, i’ve been messing with nina/kazuya/hehachi…they do ridiculous amounts of damage in this game. i think nina in particular is really good. heihachi is ridiculous. if he was slightly faster, i’d say he was hands down the best character in the game. he’s so fun to use too.
it’s a shame the sound online is broken right now because it’s making it really hard for me to take the tekken characters into endless mode. the netcode itself is actually surprisingly good. just got out of my laggiest match so far, yet it was still better than a 3 bar on sf4.
The online sucks to me. It doesn’t slow down but it rolls back and it does it often. It’s not that smooth for me. You definitely need a 5 bar connection to make it remotely worthwhile
A slightly more damaging tag in combo besides the c.mp > c.mp > FK combo is…
f+mk > c.mk - f+mp > c.hk
Off a long combo you’ll probably get 1 more point of damage
Off a short combo it’ll do 5 points more of damage.
I guess they won’t be able to quick recover if you do this one.
Yeah c.mk -> s.hp is good and easy to hit confirm into cross rush. I also tried the alpha counters mentioned earlier and its soo good. Its very easy to do, especially against rolento. As for partners I’ve been running guile mostly with Kazuya to finish people off. You can tag cancel Kazuya’s tatsu looking kick and if timed correctly they will still be standing allowing for a non juggle combo. The best thing you can do with it though is jump light kick cross up into combo. In the corner you can combo jumping fierce, upside down kick, into cross rush. I’ve also tried Guile with Ken because Ken’s tatsu switch cancel is pretty good and lets guile do a full combo with upside kick.
also sorry if any of this is beginner stuff. I just signed up today but have been playing guile since vanilla sf4.
but the mind damage is done
some vids of me using Guile / Heihachi last night at Super
btw:
tag-in followup: f+mk > cr.mp > cr.mp xx flashkick
does even more damage, like someone mentioned earlier, though you don’t get a hard knockdown
ok so i switched from heihachi to kazuya and i’ve lost like 1 game all day lol. kazuya is definitely the best partner i’ve found for guile so far on the tekken side. i’ve tried ogre/hei/nina and kaz. i think ogre might have some potential too. i’m still coming to terms nailing his mist step/electric wind god fist in actual combos (like after j.hk, cr.mp, cr.hp). it feels really alien at first because i’ve never played tekken, but i’m getting there.
he’s a good partner for guile because he more than makes up for the damage that guile lacks. i’ve been running guile with meter gems plus 60 hp, kazuya with speed and damage gems.
who would go well with guile from the street fighter side?
