I think it’s still coming could definitely be wrong but I do
During Development at Namco HQ.
Harada: Ok Capcom is doing there part of the Crossover, we just have to finish TTT2 and then go on to TxSF.
Sir SFxT is a major floop, the game has bombed, Capcom has fucked up
Harada: God damn it Ono, ok time for TTT2 then.
Sir TTT2 has bombed the game is hated and sold like shit
Harda: God damn it, what do we do now? I know time to put all the hope and ressources into TxSF, use the leftover to make a F2P Tekken and see how it works.
Sir no one is playing Tekken Revolution and we make barely money off of it.
Harada: Ok we have to prepare for the future.
Sir Capcom release SFV! Game had a shit launch, tons of problems, the devs ignore the community and sells like shit.
Harada: For fucks sake Ono.
(Some Years later)
Harada: Ok TxSF is shaping up good. I just have to get out there and announce it.
(Harada makes the announcement)
Harada: Did I just announce Tekken 7? Morai that was the wrong paper you gave me?!
At least the game is doing good. Hope it stays like this.
This shit made me laugh more than it should have
The lack of assists was actually a huge turn off for many people.
I know that the MVCI defense force likes to throw that the gameplay was/is amazing and that is what it matters.
But for most people, the gameplay alongside the whole lack of polish in presentation and other stuff was a huge turn off.
The mechanics, the 2vs2 nature was not well received, also, it didnt help that at launch the game had glitches like the web ball reality stone infinite.
Even when it was fixed, i saw a lot of people not being fond of the tag mechanic since it quickly devolved into to much fuckery for them.
the scene on my country quickly threw the game aside and went back to mvc3, or just played dbfz
I know that TTT2 wasnt as popular as T6 or T7, but i dont remember being a flop.
It sold worse than Tekken 6, much worse.
I think 1.1m copies?
By that time i moved out to El Salvador because work, so i didnt play it much.
Any idea why it wasnt well received?
Good to know. I guess I was biased. I honestly don’t remember seeing much criticism for the gameplay - just the presentation/models and roster… Maybe I didn’t remember it because I didn’t agree. Who knows.
Casuals mainly hated it.
Balance was awfull, Combos were often longer than BB Combos. One standard BnB from a Launcher could take 80% or even ToD.
The list is long, very long.
For me it was ok, online had improved dramatical since Tekken 6 and they brought Jun back, so I could play her outside of Tekken 2.
Much like T6, the balance was wack and way too many characters coughLarscough hit like freight trains. Bob was dumb as fuck too.
Edit: Ninja’d by Cipher, he knows the Tekken history.
I think it was mostly balance reasons. Some chart were stupid in that game. I also saw a few people complaining about the tag mechanics as well.
I don’t know. It was one of my favorite Tekkens for being fun and bringing Jun back.
I don’t play the games for more than 2 months, but I did play every Tekken.
I just don’t play the games further than Casual level.
I’m a 2D player, blocking standing feels unnatural to me <.<
I did see praise for the gameplay and active switch feature. I prefer it than assists. And I prefer 2vs2 as well. Those were not the reasons why the game failed.
TTT2 was mostly a train wreck because the game had way too much shit you had to learn, even for a Tekken game. It was a lab monster’s dream, but holy crap it was tiresome to get into, and the presentation wasn’t nearly as good as T4-T6.
Tekken had always been the biggest FG in Norway up to that point, but the series were in a hiatus here 2013-2017 because nobody liked the game and it brought in no new people.
Anything + Lars was automatically good. Worked for me lmao.
Oh yeah, and TTT2 capos.
The horror.
Shivers
Those were dark times. Capos casually doing 80% of your health or outright killing you. Smh
I was waiting to see this response. I heard the game was complicated as fuck, even for vets. You just confirmed it for me.
I prefer 2v2 as well.
If Tekken x SF happens i think it will be 1v1 though this time around.
Anything but 3v3. Sry i just dislike that format.
