The GranGlue Fighter Lounge: Corona Virus bodied Shadaloo Free AF

I’ll put in a little time, why not?

Thanks, homie.

I’m confused… a hitbox should require very little wrist movement; I’m not sure how one can injure their wrist without a joystick lever.

Play GBVS for a few games, pretty stable.

Play SF5 for a one game, ken player mashes like a madman during a combo, netcode goes to shit and I drop it and lose.

I just gotta delete SF5 at this point.

Yup. Makes me wonder if the recharge time is longer though if you use more meter before it runs out

I don’t play motion characters so I exert my left hand very little when playing. And that is causing me problems with not being able to chip or CA to kill in certain situations.

On my studies on how to solve that and improve my execution with it, I have found out that the fastest, most reliable way for me to do a QCB is by slightly tilting my left hand wrist rather than forcing a very stubborn ring finger to move properly.

Add that my left arm didn’t solder properly when I broke it when I was a wee lass, doing that repeatedly for a long time put some level of strain and stress on my wrist that it isn’t used to.
Whence it ended the session hurting!

But alas, pain is just weakness leaving the body. This thing will stop whining about it very soon.

Recharge time is the same on the cooldown (which is about some 10+ seconds). She can actually charge up her Wyvern gauge to full before the cooldown finishes.

The thing is that it isn’t like she is shit out of luck like Zato is without Eddie. She can still toss out lighting and play footsies pretty decently. She can eat up that time fairly well.

This character is some shit.

I honestly think she is in line with the rest of the top tier. She struggles on defense pretty hard, though her regular super helps with that a bit

Hitbox or Stick? Might as well try the other device and play on a more comfortable way.

I feel like Arcsys is going to body Zooey. They already came for my Gran unga, but I’m going to play Djeeta and Zooey to see if they click.

Hitbox. I don’t have to replace hitbox parts every 2 or 3 months like I do with the stick.
So far I only had to replace one button in 8 months of use on the hitbox! Much more resilient and reliable!

Thanks Pertho! I actually stumbled on that the other day. It’s very helpful.

Bafael also made some good primers. @KingTubb (or anyone else), you may want to check the link below as it has a few. He also made a great parry primer, which wasn’t in this article, but should pop up as a recommended video on YouTube. The parry vid is definitely too advanced for me right now (I’m going to focus on a limited gameplan for the next week or so as I think that will help me play smarter and do less mashing, and develop it as I improve).

Also, ReNic made some good character guides for most (all?) characters. If you open up the video below in YouTube, it should open up a playlist of all of them.

Calling her broken is a bit of a stretch from the jump. We don’t know the match up yet in a lot of ways. She has all these mix ups but we’ve just seen them. People aren’t used to blocking them and people haven’t started looking for solutions yet.

Its kind of like a Poison situation in SF5 except in reverse: I thought she would really shine when people figured out the match ups but then you had a chorus of people just calling her ass from the jump.

I can definitely say that if I’d bought GBVS for Soriz, I’d basically quite the game over dealing with Zooey. That’s all I played against and I’m not sure it gets more enjoyable. But I’ll keep hitting training mode to dig up details on her. Her goofy non-DP that ends with a dive being + on block is pretty silly.

Thanks for sharing this! My ring finger has developed quite a bit (probably didn’t hurt that I already played bass guitar), but i’d be lying if I said I was as proficient with QCBs (especially two of them, like in supers) as I am with QCFs.

I’ll try that next time I’m on. Feels a bit better on my tabletop anyway.

I’m interested to see what happens when the Zooey hype dies down slightly.

When I look at the roster and consider the changes it has me thinking that the majority of the cast are quite solid.

Looking forward to the next Ronin Rumble and I highly recommend tuning in for it!

No argument there. It’s not like she’s OP, the problem is that she’s strong in virtue of being a very annoying to deal with character, like Ferry.

Like I said before, we haven’t worked out defending against her but similarly she isn’t fully developed yet. No way of telling just how good or bad she is going to be. All things considered, looks like at worse she is gonna be mid.

Don’t know what happens when Katalina starts chucking fireballs at her. Her tools for fireball wars are kinda awkward.

Metera seems like a pretty rough matchup for me with zooey atm. Obviously my zooey is terrible but it feels like its hard to get anything started since she can out neutral you and prevent you from getting your dragon out

Against Soriz it felt like I was in the losing end of playing footsies. She can buffer into an unpunishable special that gives her a knockdown on hit. Soriz was made wrong on purpose, so if I land a L mappa punch, the opponent gets pushed tits far and doesnt have to worry much about pressure.

Not sure that she’ll be trying to get cute with Gran’s EX boots. Zooey’s DP isnt real, right?
