I often think this - I stream football (soccer) matches that are just not on TV here, even Premier League matches. If a match kicks off at 3pm on a Saturday, they all are just unavailable on any channel in this country… I feel zero remorse from just streaming it from elsewhere. (Also, US commercials are fucking weird, I’ve discovered)

Last time I heard anyone get dinged for piracy was in the ballpark of about 5-7 years ago. I’m sure they’re aware, but they don’t care about that. We ain’t tryna profit off the stuff. We just wanna watch, play our read what we like!!
I once (long, long ago!) got an email from my ISP saying Nintendo had requested my details for downloading a Zelda ROM from Limewire (told you it was a long time ago), and in that instance, telling me “don’t fucking do it again” would be enough for Nintendo.
They provided dates, times, IP addresses, and filenames, and hell. That was enough to stop me “sharing” in any way that also involved uploading to others.
Full disclosure: I once downloaded a porn torrent and Vivid sent my ISP who sent my wife (account holder) an email about it, with notice of either a fine or criminal charges (can’t remember which) if I did it again…
That was a fun argument.
