You actually deserve a heart for knowing about that game.
crazy taxi had a lot of bad religion in it and they have been my favourite band my whole life
so crazy taxi is good
Pretty sure the game is available on phones now.
Damn that was fast. How was Doom Eternal?
I remember watching a review of the game on Electric Playground (Reviews on the Run). Tommy Tolarico dug the game, but complained you couldn’t run over people. Cause, you know, game violence was tame then. i managed to clip some people, but I literally clip through them. Then GTA 3 came out and let you run over people. Driver was killed as a franchise that day.
Driver and crazy taxi were both good ass games. I remember the tutorial being hard af in driver 1.
A god tier forgotten driving game that just popped intern my head is stuntman for the ps2.
Well, I played it a LOT. Easily put in 4 hours a day, more on the weekend. I also played it on a somewhat easier difficulty for the last 60% of my run because I wanted to beat it quicker, and I’m going to replay the campaign a lot to prepare for an eventual Ultra Nightmare run.
But I loved it. It’s very hectic and the level of detail was amazing. Id did a great job of keeping the fights/levels interesting all the way up to the final boss, who was probably my favourite boss fight in an FPS, and there were a few levels that stuck out as some of the best FPS levels I ever played. ARC Complex probably the best, IMO.
That said, it wasn’t perfect. My only real complaint, the only thing I’d tweak if I was at the helm, was their reliance on platforming in three levels in particular. I normally found the platforming bits really fun and broke up the action nicely, but I felt in those three levels they did it so much that it started to feel like an annoyance.
Still, compared to how well everything else was executed, I can’t complain. The game is gorgeous and expands upon 2016 in every single way. It’s still early but I feel this game will place high up in my favourite FPS list (note, I do prefer this, balls to the wall action style over more tactical FPSs - not to say there isn’t strategy needed in this, there is, it’s just at a much faster pace… It’s the Marvel of FPS’s lol).
I really miss the feeling of putting quarters (tokens) into a machine and playing.
Whether it was Marvel, Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Time Crisis, House of the Dead, X-Men, Jurassic Park, whatever. I was going to make it a point to start hitting up Round 1 more often, but with this pandemic going on, I couldn’t. Hopefully that’ll change if/when things get better.
I’m still a bit torn on the game.
Gun to my head I think it’s better than 2016 but, the two games are really quite different. They are both strong at different things.
I will say during the first few levels of eternal I was very disappointed, but once I learned to play the game on its own terms it was much better.
Also, Arc complex has way too much shitty purple slime. So it can’t be the best level.
That’s BFG-10,000 anyways.
Arc Complex also has a marauder as the boss so… bleh
There is a lot to compare between Doom 2016 and Eternal.
Eternal has far better level design though if u hate platforming you may disagree.
However,i don’t like the decision to limit ammo in the game and forcing you to chainsaw your through to get ammo back. Doom does not feel like the type of game where you need to conserve ammo.
Once you get your upgrades for weapons / powers / mobility the game truly unlocks though. The game does get more difficult as you progress when it comes to enemies and level design but honestly you basically start mowing through them.
The Slayer is at it’s weakest at the start of the game even if the enemies are pretty basic there.
Speaking of oblivion NPCs, I’ve recently found this channel full of hilarious clips. Like, damn, did the game go through any sort of QA testing at all?
BOI HELL NO
SFV has many issues and disappointing eements. Music is sure as fuck not one of them. In fact V has third best soundtrack in the entire series
Funny, I’m of a completely opposite opinion, most of MVC3 OST is wack (and then somehow Infinite to be even worse)
Honestly, Music is something I feel that Street Fighter has always done really well. Off the top of my head I can’t think of a street fighter game that has an outright bad OST.
Yeah, there was one point in Eternal (on Cultist Base when the Whiplash enemy first made its appearance) that I honestly felt too stupid to play this game. There’s just too much going on and, like you, I was trying to play it on my terms.
Once I embraced how I was suppose to play (as well as got used to the various things to check on), it grew on me, and now, I’m addicted to it. I’m actually disappointed that I beat it. I’m thinking of starting my second run tonight.
Yeah, the purple stuff is the only fault of ARC, but I loved jumping between city buildings and running up/ falling through the different floors so much that while I normally checked my map for secrets regularly, I was so pumped in this level that I just ran through it without any regard to the secrets right beside me.
BFG-10k was great too, but I have a weird love for city levels.
And yeah, the Marauder was a bastard. Truthfully though, by the end of the game, you get a lot better at wiping him off quickly.
I wish there were still an arcade around here. Playing Daytona USA, ST, Virtua Cop and other classics like the ones you mentioned in their natural habitat with other people has always been one of my favorite pastimes.
I remember playing this game a lot when I was an early teen, I beat the game though most of the time I would play the “Survival” mode and “Take a ride” especially to find the secret cars and goofing around the cities.
One of my favorite games back when I had a PS1. Certainly it hasnt aged very well though… the frame rate really is clunky in the game for one thing
If nothing else, the game looks incredible.
You just refreshed my memory with Daytona and Virtua Cop. I’m so glad I came up in that era.
Some of my closest friends growing up were guys that legit hated me (and vice versa) when we’d get the best of each other in whatever fighting game we were playing. It’s amazing to look back at how the Arcade atmosphere created so many strong friendships. Just a great environment I always felt comfortable in.
What he was saying is that despite the game doing so many damn things wrong people in here keep playing it.
And my point is the people in here that do are not really fighting game players, they are Street fighter or Capcom fighters players.
They might try something else, but it won’t stick because it’s not called Street Fighter or Marvel.
Yeah, I also grew up during that era. Arcades were known to foster friendships indeed. It’s pretty easy to form a bond over a game that you and other people are fanatical about. Sadly, it seems that arcades are dying. I don’t even know where the nearest one to me is.
The old AM2 games like the Virtua series, Daytona and Sega Rally were great. How I’d love for Sega to remaster them and release them as a compilation (with online play) for the home consoles…
