Only Assassin’s Creed I played was the first. I enjoy stealth games greatly so would you say Odyssey would be a perfect reentry to the series? Note that my favorite stealth game is Chaos Theory so yes, any stealth game I play here on out has big shoes to fill.
origins and odyssey are more closer to action RPG’s now than anything. That said there is still a stealth element but its not a terribly big deal.
Last game where stealth stuff played any prominent role was probably AC3?
Like if you wanna stealthily jack dude game absolutely supports it, its just its so far down the line of what the games are anymore.
For the record, Guns 'n Roses do rock, not metal, which I suppose it’s a fitting metaphor.
I see. I suppose I could give it a try. I did enjoy the ability to find endless mobs of guys. Some fun and interesting moments. And for 20 bucks, that seems more than worth it.
odyssey probably has like 400 hours of gameplay if you want it, 20 bucks is a steal. I beat* the game at like 40~ hours played and there was still whole islands and questlines I never even looked at.
Never got to play the DLC but apaprently its really good as well.
*technically there is 3 endings? The main quest, the intrigue quest, and the links to real world quest
Spent my weekend playing Animal Crossing and I liked the memes so much I ended up double dipping Doom Eternal. Never really played a doom game really up to this point. What a rush lol
AC Odyssey “”stealth”” is laughably bad to the point of being immersion breaking. It’s barely a cut Skyrim NPC’s saying “must have been the wind” with an arrow sticking out of their forehead.
Game world is beautiful and seamless as far as I can tell. It feels pretty alive.
Everything else about the game is aggressively average at best. Combat is basically “spam attack and dodge when needed”. NPC’s are bullet arrow sponges that are only ever remotely dangerous in an open field in groups of 3 or more. Missions get repetitive quickly.
If you’ve played AC before, or really any other action RPG, don’t bother unless you’re a fan of Ancient Greek history/myth.
LMAO your first two sentences had me dying of laughter. Damn, didn’t know the stealth was that bad. Thanks for the insight on it. I assume you played a majority of the series, which one stands far and above the best?
hes being a bit sassy and unfair imo.
I have played and beat every game in the series except for unity. Best games from a pure gameplay point of view in no particular order are Black Flag, Syndicate, and Odyssey.
black flag cause boats
syndicate cause its the ultimate evolution of the classic series style of gameplay, plus london is the best city they ever made in any of the games period.
Odyssey cause its just a grand action adventure rpg. also some boats too, also funniest game in the series by a lot.
I’ve only played 2, 3, Odyssey, and barely dabbled in Black Flag I’m no AC expert.
Of those 2 was the best, tho afaik that’s the cliche answer as far as AC goes. The games have grown and changed since then but not in a that I’d say that 2 was/is the quintessential AC experience. In my experience every game after that is just the same or a slight variant of that games formula in a different era with a new gimmick thrown on top to make it seem fresh.
Edit: EC “boats” comment is exactly what I’m talking about in terms of gimmicks (sailing).
@Bea_Iank Have you been playing GBVS? if yes, I assume you are playing Ladiva. What do you think of her?
yeah but black flag is legit the best pirate game ever made since the original sid meiers pirates
its no gimmick, its what the game is. There is a reason it spawned a million copy cat pirate games afterwards.
I didn’t mean to imply the pirate/sailing thing was bad. My point was that they had to start going in weird directions with the games because they couldn’t make meaningful improvements to the formula to make the new games worth buying. The sailing is cool but the traditional assassins creed parts of the game(s) are barely improved over the first couple.
They couldn’t make a good assassin’s creed game so they made a pirate game and called it assassin creed.
well yeah, because it became a yearly franchise. There is a LOT of assassins creed games out there. The classic formula was peaked with syndicate and it basically can’t get better than that and I am happy they did a full on break and are trying new things. I was kinda already getting sick of the formula by the time revelations came out. Black flag was a breath of fresh air, unity sucked, then syndicate stuck the landing, and after that a newer style of experience was welcome.
I expect AC ragnarok or whatever its being called to be another strong step forward evolution of the series as well.
Yeah I was gonna mention the yearly release thing but you basically checked all the boxes.
I stand by my assessment of Odyssey being overrated though. Unless you like the Ancient Greece thing the game is just ok.
This relates to SFV somehow.
It hurts me to see a beautiful game like GBFV getting modded. Just doesn’t seem right.
