Get unchartered collections. You can’t miss Uncharted 2. It’s one of the greatest games made!
I’m dealing with a neck injury myself. A prolapsed spine to be exact. From my neck all the way to the bottom of my spine. But it’s going to be extremely expensive due to me being haemophiliac and I’m a piano teacher and actor and it means I’d have to miss so much work and lose a lot of income.
Been bearing with the pain in my neck and left arm for 5 years.
Also limiting myself to light weights only at the gym. No more gung-ho lifting above my weight stuff.
@Volt Damn that sucks to hear about the tournament organisers man. Its probably going to cost them a couple of tens of thousands?
Also, the story of how I hurt my neck is kinda funny. Might be worth a laugh…
I was driving down a rural road, going 90 km/h with my top down on my Jeep when a bird shat on my face.
God damn shit hit me square on my cheek at 90kmh.
I started shaking my head frantically to get it off and 5 minutes later I couldn’t twist my neck at all. Had to go to physio and all types of stuff because of that literal shit.
Thankfully it wasn’t anything serious, but the asshole behind me had a great laugh.
No, I had TP on GC and loved it. Though that probably was the last game I played before my break. I did miss Skyward Sword… I didn’t even know I missed it until I “came back”. Thankfully the reviews for it are pretty shit so, whatever.
I did miss Metroid though and was aware of that. That was one game that got me close to buying a wii, but I was heavy into my bass and figured it was probably for the better…
Now I barely play the stupid thing… In an effort to force myself to, I joined a weekly jazz ensemble but I don’t practice at all. Playing walking basslines is boring as hell. Wouldn’t be surprised if they kick me out soon. Everyone else is progressing so well and i’m kinda holding them back. I try to practice, but I play for 20 mins and I get so tired that it completely kills my night.
If you wanna know what the game is like, you could take a look at the Zelda thread. It goes that far back.
Metroid Prime Trilogy changes a man. The whole package is on my top 10 games.
The logbook is just amazing in how it rewards your exploration with lore and the story without needing a bunch of cutscenes and NPCs dropping info dumps at you all the time.
Real talk. Quit.
It’s one thing to not feel motivated to train a skill and just saying “Screw it, I’mma play BotW.” Its another thing when you’re actually holding people back because of it.
@PVL_93_RU every time I see a fight video of Russians, it’s always one guy vs like four or five. Like, what’s the mentality over there? Can’t they do 1vs1?
So, I actually talked about this to my teacher, and he doesn’t want me to quit, because of that he likely wouldn’t kick me out either. If he can’t find a replacement, then my wack, playing roots ass, is still better for their progress than no bassist at all.
And really, I don’t want to quit. I just need to step up my shit.
I was thinking about this today and am just going to learn a good bassline to play and repeat it. Eventually, I’ll add some variations to throw in depending on what the band is doing. Learning a free form like jazz is overwhelming to me. I hate the freedom. Maybe that’s what music is all about, but I enjoy it a lot more when I know exactly what I’m playing and nail it.
I have fun playing there as well. Also, I have fun when i’m learning/practicing lines, like what I decided to do today.
It’s the playing scales and arpeggios over chord progressions that murder my interest.
As a music teacher myself. I say don’t give up. Don’t quit the instrument and then regret it years later. Just carry on and yeah, like you said, step up your shit.
It’s just such a pleasure to be able to play an instrument you know? You might not be superb but as long as you’re having fun. That’s good enough. And play what you like. This is so important.
I know nuts about free form jazz but if that’s not something you like, then find something you like and play it!
I hate doing scales and arpeggios as a student myself. I got good at the piano because I played songs that I liked. I threw away the Hanon and Czerny books my teacher bought me. And I didn’t really practice all the classical stuff my teacher assigned me as homework lol. I’d save up money as a kid and buy books with songs I like at the bookshop and played them all day. Helps that I have perfect pitch and can play and improvise without sheet music lol.
Also you can get sheet music off the Internet so it’s much convenient now as compared to when I was a kid in the 90s, saving up pocket money to buy music books.
And yeah Uncharted 2 is my favourite out of them all.
The funny thing is that I started get back into playing a lot last fall/winter and thought learning jazz and joining this ensemble would really get me into it. But yeah, playing jazz as a bassist is not my thing at all. I also underestimated how long it would take me to get comfortable improvising on top of every chord anywhere on the neck. I, unlike you, have a terrible ear, which is probably making things worse.
I’m also not playing much else, which perhaps is a mistake, but I can’t seem to swing the guilt from not playing jazz, so I just don’t play anything. Honestly, i’ve been severely demotivated to do anything in general. I’ve been in a slump this year, and can’t find a way to pick myself out of it.
I do just need to man up though and get some decent lines under my belt and change my focus. That should make it more fun until at least this ensemble is over in June and then I can move on.
She’s not bad. Bought her and tried her for a bit.
I just don’t like that her moves lack impact. Her super and throws especially. The combo she does where she tosses her opponent is so lacking in impact.
And dlc prices in DOA6 is RIDICULOUS!!
It costs about 6 Singapore dollars for a dlc character in most fighting games. Tamaki is a freaking $11.60 for me. I can eat two full meals with that money.
Dunno why she was more expensive than the other chars. Well, actually i have an idea.
Other chars were around $12 irrc for all their stuff, she was $18
