:woot:
The Goon is a comic book series created by Eric Powell in March of 1999. The story is about the adventures of the Goon, a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio. The Goon (and his sidekick Franky) often get tied up in other machinations, often in relation to the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest.
The series has a distinctly paranormal slant, with the average story concerning ghosts, ghouls, skunk-apes with an unnatural hunger for pie, extra-dimensional aliens, and mad scientists.
Comic-Con: Eric Powell Talks About the ?Goon? Movie Eric Powell is a tricky bastard. I walked into a panel hoping to find out some details about the very recently announced Goon movie, but instead found myself fooled, teased, and lied to. As the panel began, guests Brian Posehn, Thomas Lennon, and Robert Ben Garant tried to make up for the missing creator of The Goon, Eric Powell. Soon, a drunken Powell stammered into the room, meandered around the floor and took his seat and promptly began drinking. He then pitched us on the greatest story of all time. It was a love story. A love story about explicit sex. A love story about explicit sex featuring god damned Godzilla.
Yes, I was in love at that moment, in love with a project I could never have dreamed of. A 30 foot long green wang tearing into Mothra, Powell promised that himself. Posehn had started work on 12 issues already. Finally, finally, finally. But no, it was not to be. Soon Garant and Lennon had torn of matching jumpsuits to reveal their priestly garb. Then excised the demon that had taken control of Powell and steam rose towards the heaven. Only then did they realize - what about the smoke detectors? The doors were opened and soon they fled the stage, leaving behind an only slightly buzzed Powell to declare that?s all they had for us.
As you may have guessed, that was all just a funny skit, though I?m still down for reading about Godzilla plowing Ghidora. Powell invited a few fans of the book up on stage and they talked and answered questions. The movie news that was confirmed was just this: The film will be true to the comics, it will be CGI, Blur Studios will co-produce, and the story will mix some origin with some all new material.
Following the panel, this poster was displayed at the Dark Horse booth. Aren?t you sad you missed Comic-Con now? In regards to The Goon, it?s a really good comic full of ass kickings and inappropriate humor. I definitely recommend it. Where else can you read a story entitled Satan?s Sodomy Baby? On the internet I would guess, but this one has pictures. The Goon kicks ass because he is a big brute who beats the piss out zombies, monster, spiders, robots, apes, hell anything you put in front of him, he?ll destroy it and make it dead. Please excuse the camera flash, Cole Abaius was yelling at me as we were tracking down some hot vampire twins we?re pretty sure were of legal age.

This is one of my top 5 favorite series of all-time!
When I met Eric Powell at Comic-Con 2004, I asked him to sign my Goon comics and he was more than happy to oblige my request. When I opened up my backpack and revealed that I owned every issue of the series, he responded with an enthusiastic,“Wow, you own all of my shit!”
He then gave me a free Goon toy and signed the packaging for me! He was one of the nicest creators I’ve ever met, next to Scott Morse, Robert Kirkman, Grant Morrison, and Lee Bermejo.

I just don’t want Peaches Valentine in this movie…
BTW I feel like sending Powell a fan-mail, does anyone know what e-mail I should write to?
Get hyppppe!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with an update that will drive certain people insane... in a good, frothing at the mouth kind of way. Eric Powell's THE GOON is a favorite of mine. Along with Robert Kirkman's THE WALKING DEAD Powell's book...
