What is with all you people on this thread? Did any of you previously own or even
play or do any reading during GOW1-2? I only ask because Jaffe before releasing
the director’s chair to Balrog really wanted GOWII on PS3…which is why it was
cut with the ending that it had.
I guess there’s just a small few who didn’t already know what and where the 3rd
sequel was gonna be. That’s cool that it was finally announced though…although
screenshots are what I’m more interested in—it’s been long enough now.
Well, then, my bad. I didn’t like it that much either, but it’s not done by the same team as the GoW series, and I’m pretty sure they don’t have the same design goals with the two games.
When I played Heavenly Sword though. I could only think of it as God Of War with a girl. I think those glaring “PRESS X NOW” screens made me think that way.
The PS3 was a gift. I borrowed the game from work.
The “interactive sequences” made popular by GoW1 are so overused now…You see it everywhere!
It’s like bullet time back when Max Paine made it popular. 80% of the shooters after it had/have that damn feature.
I never gave Heavenly Sword a second glance, because I knew it would just be a GoW clone. Same with Conan. Not hyped about Conan at all.
I hope the director change doesn’t screw things up. God knows the PS3 can’t take more failures. But I did like GoW2 better than GoW1 so maybe it’ll turn out okay. Perhaps a new director each game brings fresh ideas and keeps the series from getting stagnant?
God of War’s fighting engine seems to be more developed than Heavenly Sword’s (not that I don’t mind non stop mash action eye candy). I think GOW II was one of the best praised action games (gamers and critics alike) and stole some attention from series like Devil May Cry (which was out at roughly the same time with 3?). I wouldn’t compare the quality with Heavenly Sword or Conan, as it will, without a doubt, be better than both. Think more in the top tiers of DMC and Ninja Gaiden.
Well this is good. God of war 3 wont be out for at least 6-12 months. PS3 will have to have dropped at least 25-50 dollars by then. also, the buffer zone to see if the game is actually good, i will then consider buying a PS3 for this
I checked the new footage on Gametrailers and I was absolutely amazed at how the final product turned out to be. Everything is in real time and the gameplay looks epic. That scene where you see Kratos killing someone in first person really did something for me. This game is going to be absolutely brutal. Gilley if you’re reading this go kiss the entire Santa Monica studio team for me … no homo.

Decided to skip out on watching the Gametrailers special. Don’t really want this game spoiled when I play it. Kratos will be killing both titans and gods in this one, which I can’t wait to do.
