The GGPO Discussion Thread

They were talking about BB and SCV online tho’ which were pretty good.

I’m kind of wandering off subject though, gotta admit. All the other stuff about its use aside, PC GGPO is just about (weasel words) the most true online experience I’ve ever experienced too. So sorry for getting into that other stuff again

oh yea, BB is pretty good online and I’ve never personally tried SCV so I can’t comment on it. I don’t make judgments about net-code unless I actually play it myself.

The thing with BB is, it’s still not as good as rollback netcode. If you’re used to GGPO on the PC and play BB, you will notice the variable input delay.

The game was developed on PS3 hardware and ported to 360 to prevent PS3 port problems. The load times were a side effect.

barely if any, and i played on ggpo, etc, etc
bb is practically as good as ggpo, ggpo is not the second coming of christ is really good, but when the connection is not optimal is just a pain in the ass as any input latency netcode out there

I don’t wanna be that guy that revives necro threads, but my login button just straight up doesn’t work. I tried it with two desktops and a laptop. Nada.
I looked around and apparently that’s an issue for other people using GGPO too. Which leads me to my questions…
How’s Supercade? Do they feature as many games as GGPO? Or is it bad because it splits the non-AE PC community?

Not sure about Supercade. But for your GGPO problems, you might want to try creating another login name. For some reason, creating a new name and logging in with that one, has worked for some people.

Is something wrong when I can only play folks on the other side of the planet and Mexico? I live in the US and for whatever reason, GGPO will not start a match with people in Canada, South America or the US. It’s weird.

I had this same problem, multiple times and to be honest, it just started working again one day. My best advice is to leave GGPO alone for a while and one day, it will just start working.

Make sure you properly capitalize your user name. Sounds dumb but should always trouble shoot the most common problems first.

i finally got ggpo to work thanks to a fellow srk buddy guiding me through the set up process till i got it working.
that netcode is really freakin admirable.
no lag…but if there’s a connection problem, game just drops. or crashes.

i’m only on kof2002 for right now. i’ll add other games like sf2 and kof98 later on.
but yeah, awesome netcode.
my only problem was that button configuration gave me problems, so it took me a while to map out the buttons to my liking. i used a pad…but i’m switching to stick coz i cant seem to map out the buttons to where one button has ABC for example coz i use may lee and its impossible to switch to her hero mode without a button mapped to ABC for switching in n out of hero mode with ease. on pad and without a button mapped with ABC commmand…its impossible to switch since i cant hit 3 face buttons simultaneously with my thumb.

so until i switch to stick i can’t really play my best.

anywho, if u wanna get ggs in, my username is mayleefist

thank god i finally got ggpo to work coz i was getting nauseous of shitty fighter 4
now to play actual good fighting games

i suspect its because people think its too hard to set up due to the fact that you have to set up your network correctly. The main reason for all the lag on xbox live is because people think port forwarding doesnt really matter, and that when people tell them they have to, that theyre just being picky.

Im really happy that if you dont forward your ports, you cant play. I dont want to constantly play people who have stuttery connections. I like being able to input things in a smooth manner.

Simply put I won’t play GGPO because I cannot buy the games. If I could buy legal copies of the games then I would love to. But I am not going to become a common thief. As far as new games and old games, to define your self worth by what games you play and what games you refuse to play is just sad.

lol

Is there guy claiming I don’t know how to desolder roms and set up a epprom reader to dump games?

you can’t possibly be serious…

well, i have kof2002. actually the tougeki version which comes with the original neo geo version.
the problem with ggpo isn’t obtaining the roms for the games as so much the rom for the neogeo system…which is…yeah, pretty hopeless. no one is gonna still have a neogeo system laying around their house, even if they did, i think you’d need to be a wiz to extract the system’s rom from the console.
as for the games, we mostly have the roms already in some other console’s version of the game.

That’s probably the first time I’ve seen somebody say they woudln’t play a game because it was abandonware. Usually the argument is the opposite.

A+ post.

but seriously, if you’re serious, lets say there is a game you really like thats on ggpo but you cant find the game anywhere. You wouldn’t play it at all?

I’m actually surprised it took 500+ post for someone to say this.

cause they believe in consoles, not computers

what does that even mean?
